While your opponent is trying to read the rules text of Balduvian Shaman, the time allotted for the match should run out, causing you to win the game for having more life. If your opponent successfully reads the Balduvian Shaman, sideboard in the Ice Cauldron.
...so the Filthy Cur will reduce the opponent's life total, perhaps causing the opponent to wake up and ruining the combo.
