Well, we wanted to fool around with Yosei/Myojin and keep a good soft lock in place. RecSur is one of the obvious ways to do it. We did try Oath at first with the two Yosei  but it was not as much fun as this build nor as resiliant. Mana is a bit of an issue at times but generally you can get a few mana out pretty fast and once Survival sticks it becomes quite difficult to deal with. Witnesses recur anything countered and can also get silly at times. The deck just enough disruption to get your pieces in place and enopugh redundancy to make it awkward. THIS IS A CASUAL DECK. Yes, it has a few moxen and a Lotus but these are easily replaced aqnd slow you down by one turn only.
I had wanted to play it in 1.5 with perhaps white added where it can go off very quickly but for now I'm lkeaving it as a casual Type 1 and am hoping for a bit of imput. We did actually do a little testing and leaked the deck out for comments earlier but as it is clearly not going to be a top contender, we might as well see what the community can do to make it  as strong as possible for the less serious minded.

Myojin of Night's Reach
5BBB
Legendary Creature -- Spirit
5/2.
Myojin of Night's Reach comes into play with a divinity counter on it if you played it from your hand.
Myojin of Night's Reach is indestructible as long as it has a divinity counter on it.
Remove a divinity counter from Myojin of Night's Reach: Each opponent discards his or her hand.

That kind of sucks. Should pay more attention to spoilers when I proxy up new cards. Not that you can't lock with just the Yoseis but it just isn't as cool. I could replace it with another tool box creature but nothing has quite has as much punch.

A buddy of mine at C&J's busts out with Time Walk and Eternal Witness and Genesis.  He has to play carefully so that the combo isn't completely obvious, to get through a counterwall.

Is 4 Recuring Nightmares neccessary? (ie, cut one for a Time Walk, toss in a lucky Tropical Island/Underground Sea).

Good luck!

That is a very good idea. It appeals to the inner child in me. I can soft lock an additional way now and have additional targets for my Witnesses.
Thank you. That is what I was looking for.

I have tested the concept for a competitive Extended deck. Kokusho is almost always better than Yosei since, usually, winning > locking. I'm just running 1 Yosei in the sideboard for the Combo matchups like Aluren. I don't really like the toolbox though, I'd rather stay focused on my Combo with business stuff over your toolbox creatures. I'm using Wall of Blossoms (hence Cabal Therapy over Duress) for draw / protection for example. And some Pernicious Deed too.

You should consider Intuition in your deck. It has mad synergy with Recurring Nightmare. I have 3, It's really good.

Those are very strong ideas. I've edited to reflect the changes.

Also, a single Guilded Drake made my buddy's Srvival deck breath more easily against Tinker for Colossus (which isn't going away soon...) and of course my ever present Auriok Salvagers.

In his build, Time Walk became more powerful than Ancestral Recall.

Greetings everyone.

I've been playing Casual RecSur for a while now ...

And my version of the decklist has been tweaked and played around with so much that it just isn't good enough for a tournament anymore.  Of course I have all the important cards for when I need to be serious; the Reya, the Tradewind, the Spike Weaver, the Nishoba, etc etc ... but since I play this in a heavily casual environment now, I can afford to use funny cards and change the way the deck works.

Honestly, I can say that this version of the deck may not rely on Survival for that many cards, as it has other cards that help me get what I need.

But this is my casual version.  I don't have the moxen and other pieces required to make it tournament worthy ... so I play around with it and make the deck more fun, even if it's not as powerful.

It is my experience that Duplicant is vastly superiour (albeit three times as costly) at dealing with Darksteel Colossus and its ilk. If you're really looking for an answer to big creatures, it looks as though you could spare one of the slots occupied by Eternal Witness. Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome card, but in a Survival of the Fittest deck, four of any creature is a little bit excessive.
