Our set doesn't have anything like a Twiddle in it yet.

NAME
2U
Creature -- Human Wizard
1/2
Protection from blue
T: Tap or untap target permanent.

Pro: blue so he can't tap/untap himself a million times.

Isn't this a little bit powerful? If this were made, it would almost definitely have to be rare. Also, it doesn't need to have protection from blue. My reasoning for both conclusions stems from [card]Aphetto Alchemist[/card].

Eerily similar to (but far, far better than) Puppeteer.

I gave him an activation cost of {U} so he can't (easily) be used as a mana source. Blue gets no elves!

Yeah, this is now Twiddle on a stick, which is fairer than any old untap effect with protection. This is fine.

Is there any good reason for this guy to [still] have protection from blue? I like it with the activation cost, by the way. It probably still can't be a common, since it's much, much better than Master Decoy, but that's just fine. I give it my stamp of approval.

Agreed with Ephraim. The pro:blue bit is just a plain bonus now that really doesn't interact with the rest of the card anymore (ok, so you can untap it a few times...). I suggest dropping it and keeping the rest the same.

This interacts well with Shabling Treant that may only attack if 'twiddled.' I'd beel looking for a way to use that in sealed Smile Also, I'd give my right arm if we could keep it called 'Twiddle Man'. We already did Puppet Master, didn't we?

Actually I was looking at Treant when I realized we had no way to untap it in the entire set.

Yup.  It's Puppeteer but strictly better.

Twiddle Man
{U}
Summon Wizard
1/1
{T}, discard a card from your hand: Tap or untap target permanent.

Isn't that strictly better than the twiddle spellshaper?

For reference, here is the spellshaper Jacob was talking about.

Trickster Mage
{U}
Creature -- Spellshaper
1/1

{U}, {T}, Discard a card: Tap or untap target artifact, creature or land.

***

Yes, Twiddle Man is superiour to it. Twiddle Man doesn't require an activation payment of {U}, can't untap enchantments (big deal!), and is a Wizard, instead of the rather useless "Spellshaper."

That is so easy to discover that it suggests conspicuousness or little need for perspicacity in the observer. the spellshaper one comes out two turns faster...

[edit] That is so easy to discover that it suggests conspicuousness or little need for perspicacity in the observer. didn't read stolen's new suggestion.

You still haven't removed Protection from Blue. Do you in intend to or do you still feel that there's a good reason for this to have it?

Anyhow, here are my suggestions for the name:
Capacitance Mage
Wily Hypnotist

Since the effect is close to Icy Manipulator too, and ice "feeling" blue, maybe you could try a non generic name involving ice.

By the way, the card is very interesting and falvourful.

Pro: blue removed.

I actually like "Twiddler" so unless anyone has a problem with that, twentyfour hour clock.

I have to wonder if you guys know what "flavor" means if you can say this without there being any art, flavor text, name, or even an exotic creature type.

Twiddler sounds like Twizzler, the candy licorice. Mmmm....flavor.

I know this won't happen in a tournament, but if my opponent has Chaos Orb in his hand while I'm controlling his turn from a Mindslaver, who flips the card if I force him to play it and activate it?
