The 3CB War of the websites is back!

WotW has returned! Goblinboy and I are delivering, as promised, the second War of the Worlds. As last time, we’ll collect in 15 decks from each team and pair each MTGNews deck with each TMD deck, and we’ll arrange the winners after the closing date – Friday 19th November.

This time we’ll be using a banned list based on the current MTGNews list. We’ve banned leonin squire and coercion to be on the safe side, but otherwise it’s almost entirely as per their list. We need to start thinking about potential lotus-based decks this time, although no need to get too hung up on them – they are more used to playing with the lotus, and will be fairly knowledgeable as to what beats lotus.dec. They’re also fairly heavy on Maze of Ith, but don’t bear this in mind too much now that I’ve pointed this out  Smile .

The rules as far as entering a deck for the competition is that it is almost strictly done on a first-come, first serve basis. However, the 12 of us who have won a 3CB on TMD since the re-introduction of the banned list (Kowal, Jacob Orlove, Pyromaniac, PandaPokemon, Alfred, Nibble, Erdrick, Virtual, Nazdakka, combo_dude, Zelc and my good self – excluding Goblinboy for reasons to be explained) will have priority; if we submit a deck after 15 have been entered, then the last deck to come in will be moved down onto a waiting list. I do, however, reserve the right to get rid of anything that is truly dreadful – this is not a right I intend to exercise, however! A further rule that needs imposing is that you cannot submit a deck to both teams – only use your ‘home’ site.

Also, no more than 1 of any 1 deck per team. If someone else has submitted the deck, then I'll make you change it. However, I will put your next deck in (i.e. it doesn't got to the back of the proverbial queue).

Let’s see what we can do now that we’re on their turf. You did me proud on the first match – I’d very much like to see more of the same! I’d like to say that the emphasis should be on coming up with something fairly respectable (even if it’s a long-established deck) or fairly unexpected. However this does not mean OMG ROUGE etc – as ever, I’d be much obliged if the decks aren’t horrendous. Not that I don’t trust people or anything. Anyway.

Well, here we go:

Banned list:
All of Unglued
All ante cards
Any card that forces your opponent to discard more than 1 card a turn.
Any non-mass-produced card (Proposal, 1996 World Champion, etc.)
[card]The Rack[/card]
[card]Balance[/card]
[card]Strip Mine[/card]
[card]Wasteland[/card]
[card]Blackmail[/card]
[card]Cabal Therapy[/card]
[card]Mesmeric Fiend[/card]
[card]Meddling Mage[/card]
[card]Show and Tell[/card]
[card]Leonin Squire[/card]
[card]Coercion[/card]
[card]Nezumi Shortfang[/card]

Banned Decks:
*Any deck that can feasibly force your opponent to discard more than 1 card a turn. (The word force here is important. Mind Bomb is still legal, unless combined with Mindslaver)
*Any deck that can feasibly win on the first turn.
Any deck that s incapable of winning under its own steam (i.e. NO MISE-DECKS!)

What is 3cb?

3-Card Blind (3CB) is a very unique game. The rules are as follows

Your deck is composed of 3 cards, all of which start in your hand.
You have no library (technically, the library exists, but starts at 0 cards) and no sideboard (Wishes fetch nothing).
Random effects always go in your opponent's favour.
You can see your opponent's hand, so you can always make the best possible play.
You don't lose as a result of not being able to draw a card.
You will play each opponent twice, once going first, once going second.
For each win, you score 3.
For each draw, you score 1.
For each lose, you get nothing.
Other than the aforementioned, EVERYTHING IS HANDLED EXACTLY LIKE A REAL GAME OF MAGIC!

To make an entry, PM your deck to wonkey_donkey in the following format:

Subject: 3cb WotW 2 Entry

Card #1
Card #2
Card #3

I’m going to open entries as of now, and they will close at this time exactly in 10 days time (Friday 19th). This will give Goblinboy and I 3 days to calculate and make sure the results are correct to the best of our ability before they are posted (I hope). Best of luck to everyone!

Yeah, good luck everybody.

I really hope we win it this time, but our chances decreased after an administrator forced us to submit rancor, llanowar elves and rancor. Rolling Eyes

That's a mise-prize deck; the deck has no win mechanism. So luckily for you guys it's illegal, administrator or not administrator.

Bump.

We've only got a couple more days, and I'm a few entries short. Can we have a few more entries for this? I'm missing a couple of regulars etc, so if they could get entered it'd be much appreciated.

Entries are closed. Apologies to Tristal, who missed out by a couple of days - I'll make sure you get a place next time we do this.

Results up on monday, if all goes to plan. Which means tuesday, I expect.

It's my fault, I read your last post but not the edit at the end of the main post.  Besides, we both know my deck was horrible anyway >:)
