Location:
Hammer's Comics
1711 South Willow St
Manchester NH 03103
(Near the Mall of NH)

Date:
Sunday January 9th @11:00am

Format:
Vintage (Type 1): 10 proxy - unsanctioned

Entry:
$15

If 15 or less players:

1st - Bazaar of Baghdad
2nd - (3) Blue Dual lands
3rd - Dual land
4th - Dual land

If 16 or more players show up:

Progressive prize structure. For every entry after the first 15 players, I'll add $10 credit to the prize pool that can be spent on anything here (supplies, singles, packs, dice, sleeves, candy, soda or whatever). I'd rather do credit than give like "3 packs of Kamigawa added per entry". Packs are generally lame, and even more so for vintage players. Also, I'd rather stretch it out to a top 8 prize. So if 17 peeps enter, then I'll keep the same top 4 prize, but 5th-8th get $5 credit each. If 18 $7.50 ea. If 19 $10 ea. Then the next 3-4 entries would add credit to the top 4 once 5th-8th got up to $10 credit each already.

I've always believed stretching prizes out to top 8 finishers keeps alot more people happy, and the more happy people you have the better your chances for having a successful event in the future. Granted, some people would rather travel further for a big 1st place prize, and don't care about smaller packages, but I think this structure is better overall if I want Vintage to succeed in my store.

As far as food. I have snacks/soda, but if you want to bring food into the store, or order a pizza, or from the 99, or walk to Walmart (right next door to us), or go to Starbuck's cafe (next door at Barnes and Nobles) then I have no problem with that. It's all good.

Just to give you an idea of how the progressive prize structure went last month, here's the breakdown (32 people entered):

Tourney/prize results:
1 Kowal, Ben - Foil Welder + 2 Blue Duals + $40 credit
2 Probasco, Andrew - 3 Blue Duals + $30 credit
3 Conole, Aaron - Bayou + $20 credit
4 Yerakes, Mike - Scrubland + $20 credit
5 Levesque, Adam - $15 credit
6 Fox, Andrew - $15 credit
7 Philbrook, Chris - $15 credit
8 Beaumont, Oliver - $15 credit

Credit was used towards any items in the store.

Sorry for the late posting. I had to make sure the Pats beat the Jets last week, so they were insured a 1st round "bye" for that weekend. Smile

OH for the love of crap!!!!!!!!!!  I just spent like two hours writing a report and lost it to my being freaking retarded.  I guess I'll sum it up.  The people were great.  The competion was solid and the judging was fair.  The prize was in outstanding condition.

I played against

UR Fish - Won
RUG Madness - Won
Control Slaver - Loss
2 land Belcher - Won

Top 8
2 land Belcher rematch - Won
Doomsday - Won
EBA - Won

I had a ton of fun, I actually remember more or less how every single game went, and what busted each game open.  Clearly a memerable event.  All of my opponents were fun to play against.  I don't have the heart to type out all the details again though.

I'm really disappointed I couldn't make it to this.  I had some bad luck in terms of insomnia hitting, and then I got the flu.
