If my opponent has a Null Rod in play, and I have a Trinisphere / Smokestack / Tangle Wire in play, does Rod affect any of those cards abilites?  I am under the impression that since the abilities don't require mana to be paid, or tapping them that it doesn't.

None of them are activated abilities-so no Null Rod will not affect(effect?) them.
