Happy Freaking New Year, all!! Hope everyone's new year is as good as, or better than, the last.
What is everyone's best memory of this year/favorite things they did? Mine is definitely rediscovering this game. I didn't take my cards after I left for school the fall after Judgment came out, and sorta forgot about the game. My roommate was like "Dude, we should go to Origins." I was like, "Ok, I guess I should start playing Magic again." After Origins, I found this site and got involved in it all, and here I am now. Best thing I've done in quite a while.

What sticks out the most is the amount of times I had to explain how Chains of Mephistopheles works while Judging the VA Power 9 tournament.

Happy newyear!
The best thing that happened to me this year was going to the next grade while I fucked up last school year, like BADLY. That was awesome.

last year I made the new year's resolution to fight one of my best friends. It took all the way til june, when I missed the Kzoo black lotus tournament, and he got married to one of my other close friends. I then fought him three times at his reception, and in the end he had a broken foot and was in no shape to make it to work the following monday. I, however, went to work, bruised, swollen and scabbed.
Nothing like explaining to your boss that one of your co-workers isnt there because you fought him at his wedding. Thats definitely the best reason to miss a big type 1 event.
As far as game related memories... I would have to go with winning the time walk in windsor... that was one of the better run events I have attended and everyone there was really cool... plus I got to take power from my rivals... canadians.
This year my new year's resolution is to put at least 5 people that I do not know in the camel clutch. Old school wrestling is tech.

The month or so between when classes finished (I had papers rather than finals, which I had done ahead of time) and graduation where I got to spend every day loafing around eating fried chicken and drinking 40s.

talking about new year... I saw on the News yesterday that in the Phillipines an entire street was blown up, because somebody wanted to test a fire-work-thingy, while still in the store... BTW, isn't Rakso supposed to make this thread??

Happy New Year
There were a lot of things that were awsome in 2004.
The worst things in 2004 were a killer tsuami, the media, and George Dubya.

Oddly enough, I was just discussing things with JDizzle and he said that those were the best things in 2004. Actually, he also mentioned a dead penguin between the media and George Dubya. EITD

I never said that. I never said that thing about the Pokemon in your profile either. Conclusion: no one listen to Ben. I win.

Happy New Year to everyone.
Um, 2004 had no real highlights for me. I'm racking my brain trying to think of one, but I just can't. No memorable fights (magic or otherwise), no Big Events (like babies or weddings or graduations), no insane concerts....'04 has the distinction of being the most uneventful year in my life thusfar. And it was concluded in style when I hit the town with my gf on New Year's Eve about an hour after it turned 2005, and we ran into absolutely friggin' noone we knew the entire evening/morning. I really need to get myself a new country.
Hooray!

Garage fire a week before Christmas. Took out both of my parents cars. Unfortunately, they were uninsured. Even worse, MY car was parked less than a foot away from my dad's flaming SUV, and it survived (uglier than ever, but it survived). Christmas miracle: half of our Christmas presents were in my mom's van. Untouched by the blaze that immolated her vehicle. Although some of my sister's clothes smell of ash Hmmmm... any good memories... well, I did have my first real "sexual" encounter with a girl <gasp> without alcohol <double-gasp> That was pretty memorable. Though the bad news is I'm 19. I need to spend less time working. Bram, I doubt it's the country. This year has been pretty low for exciting stuff - no concerts to see, no parties to attend (Battle Creek? We're dead already, we just don't know it). I think other than that, the most positive thing about the past year was fixing the heat on my car by ramming a shopping cart at Wal-Mart at 25mph.

Then later I will leave the chair disguise on your doorstep and you will realize what has happened and you will be afraid all the time. Helter Skelter mother fuckers!

Best thing in 2004 for me was the introduction of the SCG P9 events. I got to go to the Chicago one and it was awesome.

The best thing about this year is that it has been my first ever type 1 year, I got to do a sweet ass summer program at harvard for eight weeks, and I saw Metallica live, like 8 feet away from the stage. I rang in the new year rolling a water heater down a street at like one in the morning and watching this hardcore christian propaganda tape where this guy accuses everyone of Freemasonry, which he equates with communism, which he equates with evil. He went off on so many tangents. We then proceeded to Tee Jayes at 5:00 and bought Barnyard Busters (BYBs) for $3.99. This dish is a cracker delight: two biscuits, two eggs and homefries smothered in gravy. Moreover, it was simultaneously my 18th birthday. Unfortunately, the comical adult store was closed for the holiday.

Well the best parts of the past year are gone, and the best part of this coming year is going to be driving JDizzle insane.
I am also looking to play only one deck for the WHOLE YEAR. I am doing this to completely defy the established knowledge that change is required to be good. And I am going to pull more prize with it than I did playing Dragon last year. And, to top that, I am going to not only pimp it out beyond JDizzle's silly MeanLongDeadBabyThingy Deck, but I am actually going to be good with it too.
Oh, and I am going to go see more concerts than last year. I think I saw about 15 last year... SUPERJOINT RITUAL 3 of them, and that is simply not enough.

Superjoint Ritual is sooo gooooood... Good things about 2004: Getting power (5/10), graduating High School, not dying in Kalamazoo, getting my tournament match record vs. EITD to even (2-2), quitting Everquest, and not dying in general. Some bad things: Not going to enough concerts ( I missed Metallica, Offspring, Alice Cooper, Godsmack and countless others...), doing poorly first semester at college, and not getting ANY New Year's Eve In 2005, I would like to go to far more concerts and big events, get out to at least ONE Waterbury, not die, and aid EITD in his quest to annoy JDizzle. -John

To quote JDizzle... "I think the main problem with magic is that in type one they restricted too many cards that make my deck good and not enough to make other decks easier to beat." Thats a little out of context. I think what was said is if a person spends all their time pimping out their deck, and then they restrict something in the deck and make it to where it loses to alot of other decks, it makes the efforts of the person who gets Asian LED with Pikachu on it suffer. Also if there is a card that hoses my deck there is no reason why I shouldnt complain about it. The True JD
