Ok, my local comic book store has been holding "kitchen magic" tournaments.  What this means is basically anything goes.

I'm looking for a deck that wins somewhat consistantly on turn 1 without P9 cards, or any card $50 or higher.

I'm pretty sure that the best bet will likely be Long, but I can only get consistant turn 2 wins.

Please post some ideas. Thanks to all who help.

So you can play any number of any card? Try something like this:

Mind's Desire (some)
Fastbond (some)
Gush (many)
Tendrils of Agony (some)
Demonic Consultation (many)
Tropical Island (a few)
Underground Sea (a few)
Blue fetches (some)

That should be a lot more stable than any academy or LED based build.

Assuming that ante cards are legal, you could try this mono - black build.

    6  Tendrils of Agony
    8  Duress
    20  Contract from Below Cool
    24  Lotus Petal
    2  Yawgmoth's Will

The numbers can vary.  You could also try night's whispers but they don't seem to work quite as well as the current build.  I'm sure that this is by no means optimal though.  The reason that the yawgmoth's will count is only 2 is because you don't even need them to function at all, but replaying the lotus petals if you don't have enough mana to tendrils (hardly ever happens) is always cool.  This deck dies to 3sphere of course, but if you go first, you should be ok.  Also, if you fizzle, there are duresses to keep you safe.

Play a deck consisting of only 150 strip mines. That's the way to go.

The 4 of rule is still in effect, and the ante cards are legal, but for obvious reasons would be removed from the game before the game started.

In that case, go look up the old threads on "Type 0".

Well, at least half your deck should be ante cards, so you can start with a 30 or less card library.

I know this won't happen in a tournament, but if my opponent has Chaos Orb in his hand while I'm controlling his turn from a Mindslaver, who flips the card if I force him to play it and activate it?
