Hi, I'm new to the mana drain and wanted to get opinions on weather or not a 5 proxy workshop deck would be good or not. I'll post the list i have i only own one actual workshop.

4x workshops
4x wasteland
1x strip mine
4x gemstone mine
3x city of brass
2x glimmervoid
1x lotus
1x mana crypt
1x sol ring
4x trinisphere
4x juggernaut
4x TFK
4x welder
3x swords
3x seal of cleasing
1x tinker
1x time walk
1x ancestral recall
2x sundering titan
1x razoremane masticore
1x duplicant
1x demonic tutor
1x vampiric tutor
3x crucible of worlds
1x wheel of fortune
1x memory jar
1x triskilion
2x fire/ice

well that's my list so far i am uncertain if i should proxy moxes over the ancestral and time walk...any imput on that would be great also any deck suggestions in general would also be appreciated. If you think this deck has no chance and is not worthy of a topic slot then feel free to lock this forum, but any input or advise would be great.

This is your first offense, so this is just a verbal warning. You violated the following rules:

4. Lack of Content

Please read the rules of TMD over here before making your next post.

For example, you need to explain why you're running spells in those mox slots, and not mana.

Ok, sorry about the post didn't see the rules right away. Anyway i saw a mistake in my list i had 6 proxies, 3 mws, 1 lotus, 1 time walk and 1 ancestral recall. i would most likely lose the time walk because the workshops are needed and the ancestral provides more card advanage.

The reason i chose the ancestral over a mox is i would only be able to proxy one mox after three workshops and a lotus, so i figured there was enough mana exceleration without moxes that i'd rather have the recall to draw the cards i need to win. As for other choices i'm running three on the seal of cleansing and STP because oath is so rampant everywhere right now. the fire/ice is there for welder decks which the seals also give me an advantage against. I was thinking about runnig a platium angel but the problem i have with that is I have no real way to protect the angel from any threats.

I also realize i have not posted a sideboard. This is because the tournament I'm going to play in is not untill Febuary and I'm waiting to see if the metagame changes drastically by then. MY current thoughts for a sideboard include rack and ruins, another swords and possiblely tangle wires( for combo). I've tested rack and ruin and know it's a house in the mirror match, I've also seen how effective a STP is against oath, when it gets off.

As for the deck its self I've only done goldfishing with it but it appears to be very consistant. I am going to build and start playtesting very soon but I would still appreciate any advise that anyone has on the deck.

I should also state that I own no power if you didn't guess that already. This is why I chose the current deck list I posted earlier. I just wanted to state this so everyone knows that adding moxen means not proxying either workshops, a lotus or an ancestral.

The five proxies are 1 Ancestral, 1 lotus, and 3 workshops. The Time walk was supposed to be a proxy but i realized i had 6 at that point. THe walk should be a tolarian academy. What I am wanting to know is should I proxy a Mox Sapphire over the A. Recall?

I chose the recall over the mox because the recall provides huge card advantage, which I figured would be better than simply speeding up the deck.

I made a list for a 5 proxy 5/3 list that uses Ancient Tomb's instead of Workshops.  My friend has made the deck and it works but you need to test it and have a SB depending on your meta.  Its not super powerful and its nothing like having the other Workshops but its a start for a 5 proxie 5/3 build.  heres the list
4 Ancient Tomb
3 Wasteland
1 Strip Mine
4 Gemstone Mines
3 City of Brass
1 Tolarian Academy
5 Moxen
1 Sol Ring
1 Mana Crypt
1 Mana Vault

1 Triskelion
1 Sundering Titan
1 Darksteel Colossus
2 Su-Chi  (Not sure what they could become.  not sure if they worth having but they can do some fun shit with Welders at times)
4 Juggernauts
1 Karn, Silver Golem
1 Duplicant
4 Goblin Welders

4 Trinisphere
3 Crucible of Worlds

1 Tinker
1 Wheel of Fortune
1 Demonic Tutor
1 Mystical Tutor
1 Fact or Fiction
1 Memory Jar
4 Thirst for Knowledge
2 Seal of Cleansing
2 Swords to Plowshares

 - SB
REB
BEB
Fire/Ice
STP
Rack and Ruin’s
Anything you need goes here. Maybe a Jester's Cap or 2 also.

Hope this helps a little

So... you get to weld one of Lotus Petal, Sol Ring or Mana Crypt?

I think you're trying too hard to use that Workshop of yours.  Personally, I can't think of a worse direction for someone trying to build a proxy deck than to go towards Workshop based decks.  But if you are totally bent on the idea,   I would recommend ditching Workshops for Ancient Tombs and Moxen.

And is english your native language?

Thanks for the deck list moxmonkey, I really appreciate the input you had. I was not even thinking tombs could be good but it would probably be better to run them instead of proxying workshops. I see after some play testing that i really do need to add moxen to the deck so I probably would proxy the 5 moxen over anything else and also I'd probably take out the masticore for a DSC because I already have tinker in the deck and tinker for colossus is amazing most of the time.

My new list would probably look like so...

4x Ancient Tomb
4x Gemstone Mine
5x moxen
3x City of Brass
4x Wasteland
1x Strip Mine
1x Sol Ring
1x Mana Crypt
1x Mana Vault
1x Tolarian Academy
4x Juggernaut
4x Goblin Welder
1x Titan
1x Triskilion
1x Duplicant
1x Karn/Masticore
1x DSC
4x Trinisphere
3x CoW
1x Demonic Tutor
1x Wheel of Fortune
1x Tinker
4x Thirst for Knowledge
2x Fire/Ice
3x Seal of cleasing
2x Swords to Plowshares
1x Memory Jar

I don't own Su-Chi but replaced them with Fire/Ice which is amazing most of the time. I also chose not to run FoF so I could run a third seal which is really useful against most decks, especially oath.

As for a sb I would probably run R&R for the mirror, mor STPs and a fourth seal or a Disenchant for oath. I'm still unsure about combo match ups. I know the deck can beat combo with early 3sphere but I feel iI need something in the sb to deal with it aswell. I was thinking maybe stifle or cap might do the trick.
