Fourth time's the charm.  All it took was a little extra Sauce in Philadelphia and now we're on the way to XXXIX.

Now to see if it'll be a Keystone State Superbowl....

Sadly, New England is currently dismantling Pittsburgh.

There may have been a comment in my house along the lines of 'Where are the (insert blatantly obvious - randoms who like to destroy things) when you need them?'

So yeah, Pittsburgh is out of it, but that's fine with me.  I'd rather beat the defending champs in Jacksonville anyway. Wink

Seriously, though, how good did Brady look tonight?  Dayamn.

I was happy to see the Eagles make it too, they deserved it. But the Pats are obliterating everyone in their path and Philly will be no exception.

The game will be more interesting if T.O. is back in action though.

Yeah, f that.  What a crock of shit...

I have a personal grudge against the Eagles because it was they who ended Brett Favre's touchdown streak.  This season, I wanted to see the Colts and the Eagles lose.  Colts were struck down by the Patriots in a magnificant manhandling (I loved every minute of that).  The Patriots will triumph again!  For the record, this might be the only time I ever cheer for something from the Northeast twice in the same year.

Reid more or less said he would be when he was presented the NFC trophy.  This could be a good one!

The Patriots just beat the two best teams in the NFL in Indianapolis and Pittsburgh. Philly shouldn't be a problem.

...two best teams after the Patriots, of course!

I actually think the Eagles will be a tougher opponent than the Colts or the Steelers because they don't have glaring weaknesses (as far as I can see) that the Pats can pick apart as easily as, say, the Colts' run defense or the Steelers' rookie QB.  I have to think the Patriots' game plan will focus on trying to shut down the Eagles' passing game. They certainly were able to shut down the Colts fairly easily last week but the secondary will have their hands full again with McNabb, T.O., Westbrook, Pinkston, etc. to worry about.

If they can do that it should be downhill from there, since we saw today how easily they derailed the Bus Smile and the Eagles' running game certainly can't compare with Bettis/Staley or Edgerrin James.

No, in a freak accident, my pigeons showed up on radar near New York as unidentified aircraft.  The US Air Force blew them up.

LOMFL.  The Eagles are Philadelphia's American Football team, and they just won the game that gives them a trip to the Superbowl--this is Superbowl XXXIX--which is ostensibly the yearly American football championships, but is actually just the biggest advertising day of the year and generally just a travesty of American culture.  However, football is great, so we watch it anyway.

F the patriots... the most overrated team since....  um... ever?

I am so tired of hearing about them.

They play solid football, and dont make mistakes, but they are NOT on the same level as the old 49'ers, or Steelers, or any other REAL dynasty.  They have a solid football team in an era where the salary cap has destroyed cohesive units.  Good job, but send them back 10 or more years and they'd get OWNED.

As much as I despise the utter lack of class or sportsmanship in Philidelphia, I'll be rooting for them just because Screw the Patriots.

Unfortunately this is true of some--even many--of the Philadelphia fans, but not all of us are like that.  I think it's just the result of too many people being WAAAAY too into the game here.  I had no idea what it was like until I actually moved here, but let me tell you, they take their sports seriously out here.  I had an Eagles fan tell me, with no sense of impropriety or irony, in earnest, that when they lost the NFC championship game last year (the third time in a row they lost, Matthieu), "It was like our own little version of 9/11."  Which is obviously an idiotic thing to say, but I think he really, honestly believed it, so there was no point taking offense.  I will say that the last time I felt anything like the sense of nervous anticipation in this city that I felt on Sunday was during the general elections in November (and since this city goes about 80% Democrat, I imagine that 11/3 is probably more like what the city felt like last year after the NFC title loss than 9/11).

Anyway, it's always more fun to root for the scrappy underdogs. Smile

Sigh.  Well, congratulations, and at least we gave you a damn game, unlike the Colts or the Steelers.  McNabb seemed to be letting the pressure get to him, and the Patriots seemed to have forgotten the rules entirely there for a while, but in the end, it was a nailbiter.

How overrated the Patriots are! I think that there is a giant conspiracy to convince everyone that the Pats are good. The other NFL teams must be in on this conspiracy, because they keep losing to the Patriots. Why, look, I bet they just went and won the damn Super Bowl to try to trick us into thinking that they are good.

I agree, this was a great game and much better than the games against the Colts and Steelers. I called it pretty much right on earlier in this thread, in terms of the level of difficulty if T.O. became a factor. The Eagles right now remind me a lot of the way the Pats looked before Dillon...if they can get a more consistent running game going next season they will be a strong contender to make it back (especially if the rest of the NFC doesn't improve much).

GO PATS!!  Cool

Oh man....if you thought it was bad before, just think how much more overrated the Patriots will be now after being the third team ever to win three championships in four years!!

Thats 'dynasty' for my team. I know it seems like they have been in the spotlight forever, but back in '97 things were gloomy and sad for this team and its awesome to win like this.
