Wompathing
Artifact - 3
T: add 1 to your mana pool.
You may search your library for all cards named Wompathing , reveal them to all players and and remove them from the game. Shuffle your library afterwards. Use this ability only at the beginning of the game before you draw your opening hand, and only if Wompathing is in your library.

So.. basically you play with 56 cards Very Happy

Toad suggested the drawback:
"Your maximum hand size is reduced by one"

I am not sure if this card is overpowered or not.

I won't c/p the whole IRC conversation we had on this, but here's my take on making this 'less broken' and 'breaking fewer rules', so to speak.

Wompyland
Land - Locus
T:add 1 to your mana pool.
At any time you could mulligan and Wompyland is in your hand, you may search your library for all cards named Wompyland, reveal them to all players and remove them from the game. Shuffle your library afterwards.

Sure, it's worse, but at least there's a precedent now, it's not broken anymore, and the mana ability actually makes sense :-P I think it's more elegant than the suggestion of keeping it like it is but adding a '2 life penalty per removed card' drawback.

Watcha think, wompy?

Well, you made something like it, yes. I think it was this one:

Prehistoric Golem
Artifact Creature -- Golem
2/2
Any time you could mulligan and Prehistoric Golem is in your library, you may put it into your graveyard. If you do, shuffle your library.
Prehistoric Golem doesn't count toward a deck's minimum size requirement.
After waiting thousands of years for archaeologists, the golem finally got bored and dug itself up.

It is however functionally somewhat different from the land I proposed this becomes. The land is worse in a sense, because you actually need to draw it to 'activate' it, but better, too because it's a mana producer. It makes for an interesting call. Ideally, you just want this to thin out your library, which is always good as it makes your deck more consistent. But if you draw it and use it, you have 6 cards on hand, effectively. On the other hand, you could choose not to use it because you drew a low land opening hand or something. 1 land plus this would be a 'don't use it' situation whereas 2 land plus this could be a good enough reason to draw for it. Also, even if you don't draw it on opening hand it's still a land (and in my duggestion: a locus) which isn't too useless on its own either.

Basically, if you DON'T draw it on opening hand, you have a 60 card deck with suboptimal land onboard, and if you DO draw it, you can either (based on the land count in your hand):
a. have that very same situation, or
b. make it a 56 card deck with what is basically a 'mulligan'ed to 6' opening hand.

I think that's kind of interesting.
