And I really want to know what I can do to slow it down a bit. Banning the Moxen would help a lot, but I don't know if that is enough. If you're going to start banning stuff like Moxen why not just use the Legacy B&R list as well... that would solve almost all of the brokeness problems while still allowing for some interesting decks and tribes to be used. Pretty much any deck which wants to be successful in Vintage has to be broken, and I don't think the current deckbuilding restrictions are going to fix that. I guess it depends on the power level you want though...

If you want a fairly amusing format, using Legacy is probably needed. I already have 2 other decks that are quite broken with the T1 B&R list (turn 4 Combo kills).

Yes. 1.5 is the answer. Even with no moxen, it's still way too easy to make combo decks when you have draw7s and Will and crap.

I'm convinced:
THIS FORMAT IS NOW NOT VINTAGE BUT LEGACY, CHECK WIZARDS SITE FOR ADDITIONAL BANNED CARDS. THIS MEANS THERE IS NO RESTRICTED LIST.
Thank you.
Edit: Nazdakka, you in too?

SB seems like it'd be hard to do right, because what's stopping someone from siding out 15 of their tribal guys for 15 other cards and just playing some really strong normal deck?

Sorry, I can't... no computer of my own to use MWS on No apprentice either? SB or no ?
If no SB used, how do we deal with the wishes ? Good call. My suggestion is that the mainboard must always contain 20 creatures of the chosen type. And thus you can have creatures sideboard which are of the same type, or you can sideboard the non-tribal cards out for new non-tribal cards. For example: Mainboard: 4 Elvish Lyrist 4 Coat of Arms 52 Other cards Sideboard: 4 Elvish Vanguard 3 Alpha Status 8 Other cards You can switch the 4 Lyrist for the 4 Vanguard, or 4 Coat of Arms for 3 Alpha Status and something else for example. You can't switch 4 other cards for the Elvish Lyrist because you won't have 20 Elves left in your deck, of course considering your maindeck consists of 20 elves exact. This would mean Wishes are no problem either. Any suggestions on this?

Here is a double tribal deck.
// Lands 16 Island 4 Polluted Delta 4 Chrome Mox
// Ninjas 4 Ninja of the Deep Hours 4 Higure, the Still Wind 4 Walker of Secret Ways 4 Mistblade Shinobi
//Pirates 4 Rishadan Footpad 4 Rishadan Airship 4 Rishadan Brigand 4 Rishadan Cutpurse
//Mutant Ninja Turtle Pirates 4 Mistform Ultimus
There is synergy here, and not just the fact that Ninjas and Pirates are the most badass things ever. Pirates are 187 creatures, and ninjutsu lets you return them to hand. Then you can use the Walker to bounce your Ninjas to be able to bounce your Pirates some more. SAVAGE!!!

Kasuras: I thought of that too, but the problem is, how do you enforce it? Honestly, I'd hate to think any of us would be so silly as to cheat on sb rules to win a casual tribal tourney, but just pointing it out.

Since this is a Casual tournament, sideboarding based "on honour" seems enough to guarantee keeping at least 20 tribal creatures in the deck. I'm currently working on a Dragon deck

Oh, that one. Not really. Perhaps sideboard versus fatty.dec, but 5 mana is a lot. Even more than the Undead Warchief which costs 4 but is a lot better. I do have a 5 mana costing enchantment though, but not that one. I'm really looking forward to this, although I hope some more people (hint: DUTCHIES) join this too. I think it's going to be pretty funny.

Bram is added! We still need 1 person though.. I had the following in mind for running the tourney: -4 Rounds of swiss (first round: random, second round till fourth: people with equal points get paired against eachother.) -In the end, the number 1 and 2 play the finals to decide who really is the winner. -After the pairings are announced, I'd like to get the results of the match within a week. If people play the matches right after the pairings, we could even play it in one day. But if that's not possible; you still have one week, I guess that should be enough. -You can't change your deck in between matches. Just prepare well and have fun! 4 Rounds of swiss because I think that's sufficient. No top8 elimination because that's really no fun for the people losing the first match. If people could send their decklists to me before the tourney starts, thanks. That way, it'll be more fair and I can post the decklists in the end for further tournaments. And finally: I now see the raw power of elves. I'm not yet impressed enough by rebels and slivers yet to ban them. Thus: Elves theme is banned.

With spring break coming up, I just won't have time for this. Here's some tech for people:
Build decks to abuse good cards. Since elves and goblins are banned as tribes, you're better off building your deck around some other theme, and working the 20 creatures in. Since you know everyone else will have creatures in their decks, be ready not only to fight "aggro" builds, but also control and combo based-strategies (like spirits/Tradewind lock, or reanimator).

This tourney will start next sunday (that is not this one!) which is the 27th of February. See the terms how I'm planning on running above. Which means you now still have a week to perfect your deck, and from then on: it's playing!
If everyone playing in this could send their decklists before that date, thanks.
(By the way, I'm not that impressed with the rebels deck..)

You're added. Oh, and can Myr Matrix count as a Myr? No, neither does Lord of the Undead count as a Zombie since well.. it's not a Zombie. Edit: this also means someone is going to get a bye.. (is that even spelled correct?)

Here is my current build. The final one may be a couple of cards different.
ENTER THE DRAGON
// Lands -- 20 1 Plateau 1 Tundra 2 Underground River 4 Polluted Delta 4 Badlands 4 Scrubland 4 Underground Sea // Dragons -- 20 4 Brimstone Dragon 4 Eternal Dragon 4 Kokusho, the Evening Star 4 Ryusei, the Falling Star 4 Yosei, the Morning Star // Spells -- 20 4 Firestorm 4 Thirst for Knowledge 4 Burning Wish 4 Careful Study 4 Living Death
// Burning Wish board SB: 1 Haunting Echoes SB: 1 Sickening Dreams SB: 1 Flux SB: 1 Patriarch's Bidding SB: 1 Mutilate SB: 1 Wash Out SB: 1 Breakthrough // Non Burning Wish board SB: 4 Pyroclasm SB: 4 Ensnaring Bridge
Brimstone Dragon is some 6/6 Hasted Flyer from Portal. If Portal is not allowed, I'll add some other cool Dragons instead.

I'd rather see another dragon Toad since allowing Portal would also mean allowing those nasty Tutors and stuff. And with my school again; looking up the broken portal cards in this format is really just too much, maybe next time.

Toad, may I suggest in the place of the Brimstone Dragons, four Volcanic Dragons or three Volcanics and Rorix Bladewing. And heck -- you already have black and red -- why not Bladewing the Risen?
