MaxxMatt's Report

I played my own version of 3C-Control.
I expected decks that interact with Grave, that draw a lot more than me and that can won by turn 2 really easily.

So I dropped my old 4C-Slow deck to play this new and more active version of "a different from usual control deck".

Anyone ( excepted 3 players - Pietro Cavalletti, Chuang Chuang Xie and Luca Lo Bianco ) ROFTL at my new deck standing in front of me lasting laughing hard almost "forever".

I felt really well playing this deck during my tests.
I have more drawers than I have ever had for the control and aggro matchups
I have more protections that I have ever had for the Combo and Contro Matchups
I have POWERFUL bombs in my side to copletely shut up Artifact and Combo
I have Maindecked graveyard hate because it hurts almost ANYTHING:
-Atogs
-Welders
-Intuitions
-Gifts
-Squees
-Incarnations
-Dragons
-Skeletals
-Flashback  Spells
-Y. Will
-Even More Others Things.

Turn 1 - RG-Madness
Game1
I slowed him down a bit from drawing billion of cards with his Bazaar thanks to Furnaces, but he resolved Rootwalla turn1, Mongrel turn 2 and Wurm turn 3 and started loading madness' bolts into my face since turn 4. I tried to gain as much tempo as I could, but I was a bit mana light and he hit me too hard to completely recover and win.

I sided in 2 Edicts, 1 D-Blow 2 E.E. 1 Decree taking out 4 Duress 1 Mindtwist 1 TFK

Game2
I played all my restricted in only 4 turns.
A pletora of Soldiers overrun him with ease.
Game 3
He was a bit mana screwed only during his initial turns, so I have two turns to setup myself better. He started drawing with 2 Bazaars but I kept his grave emptied with 2 Furnaces. He beated me down a bit with a Mongrel with me holding my own ( useless ) Balance in my hand. He reinforced his army a bit with two Rootwallas but I cicled 5 men to chump them, then I played StP on Mongrel and after that I started drawing cards after cards eating my own life with Skeletals and Fetchlands. He conceded after a bit without gas and with me making up for my usual huge Y Will.

1-0-0

Turn 2 - WelderMUD
Game 1
He started with some mana, a CotV for 0 and a Metalworker. I noticed that he remained with two cards in hand and nothing more while I have 3 fetch into my hand and no 0cc-artifact's accelerations. I thought hard about countering CotV for 0 because I have no way to get rid of it with my own maindeck configuration. Fearing something nastier the subsequent turn, I opted to hold into my hand my own FoW and see what would happen. I drew into my Duress that showed me that he had only a Fatty in hand and a Welder. I relaxed a bit more and FoWilled his Fat and  Plowed his Welder. After his turn I started collecting Drains and Mana, trying to use them as better as I can because I knew that I could not optimize my own moxen and or my final Y Will to resolve fast and huge Decrees. He resolved a Wire in his following turn. I played Mystical Tutor during my upkeep, tap some more blue mana, tap the rest for the Wire and with the mana in my pool I resolved the tutored Ancestral Recall. I played around his Wires and his Smokestack with instants and Soldiers for a long time until I was able to Drain his Sundering Titan and overrun him with Angels.

I sided in 3 Sacred Grounds 1 Decree and 2 D-Blow for 4 Duress 1 Mindtwist and 1 Furnaces

Game 2
He started with a strong hand another time but this time his brokeness even hurt my game. He resolved both Defence Grid AND CotV for 1, preparing to explode with more things the next turn. I had no FoW in hand but I kept a good hand with Demonic Sacred Ground and Lotus. I played a first turn Sacred Ground and Tutor for D-Blow. He read the card staring at it for almost 3 minutes. Suspecting his possible death, he friendly confessed me that he was holding CoWs, Strips and Smokestacks and more than an half of his strategy was totally ruined. I started collecting cards into my hand, playing mana and drawing cards, really not countering anything else that could prevent me from playing D-Blow or fueling my own Mana Drains. He had his denial plan compeltely ruined and i play undisturbed with all my resources almost untouchble from his weapons. At some point, I cicled 10 soldiers and then I walked for the win.

2-0-0

Turn 3 - 3C-Oath
Game 1
We started and he mulliganed twice keeping the last hand with a sad face.
I started with a quick land mox furnace, Brainstorm into more lands and spells. I fecthed to hide back into my deck highly cc spells while I started hitting him with both EoT Drawers and Mainphase Bombs ( Duresses and/or More Drawers ). He merely looked at his hand but after turn3 he started topdecking lands after lands trying to resolve his bombs. I started drawing into all my lands too and he recover the game a bit ( but retrospectively speaking....only "a bit" of the possible equilibrium ). I forced his Oath cicling some soldiers. He mumbled a bit but soon after he tapped 2 trying to resolve his oath. I let him resolve it because I hold StPs and a lot of counters. He Oathed out his first creature and I Plowed it. He waited a bit activating the Oath again but in the end he needed his last creature to survive and win. When I PLowed his last one he conceded the game.

I sided in 1 Decree 2 E.E. 2 Edicts and 1 D-Blow taking out 1 Mystical 2 StPs and 1 Balance 2 Furnaces

Game2
He started with Duress and I Forced holding only Ancestral as my only card's drawers. He let me do it so I realized he didn't have any other active counter. I drew into one my Braintorms. Ancestral showed me Walk and Sapphire that let me Untap another time coupled with another of my own moxen. I Brainstormed into a Drain that countered his next turn Oath. Unluckily for me he had the mana ( thanks to his Mana Crypt ) to resolve Leak my Drain. Oath resolved but luckily he didn't had drawn into his Orchard. His lack of luck let me recover a bit drawing more cards and an E.E for his Oath. We stalled for a lot of turn and we draw-go for a long time. At some point I tried a FoF during his EoT and he answered to it with Intution. I let him resolve it, retrospectively knowing that I could have countered the followin AKs or killed his Deeps with my own Furnace. He tried an AK for 3 soon but I Drained, He FoWilled and I FoWilled back. Untapping I Duressed his hand and I take out Another Intuition. Then, noticing that he is without active counters I resolved a little Mindtwist for the rest of his hand, preparing my self for a protected Y Will next turn.
He drew into another counter but I resolved my own Y Will through it and won with a few undisturbed soldiers 4 or 5 turns later

3-0-0

Turn 4 - 3C-Landstill
We stared each other holding our gaze in a fiery manner.
The reality surrounding us seemed to macroscopically curve under the weight of our growing and pulsating aura. The players at the tables around us freezed and none seemed to even be able to breath.
A dog far away from us randomly die
A glass into the Bar next the playing area suddenly crushed, hitting in his Evil Eyes an Old Men.
"50% of my prices would be yours", he said after what seemed to all an eternity.
A door opened at our left because of the force of an unexpected wind. Cards fly over the table, mixing themselves in a dance that could have gambled the fools all around us.
I slowly started shuffling my cards.
"...60% for you and 40% for me..." he said ex abrupto".
Anyone seemed to regain at least a single drop of humanity and fluctuant vapurs and energies stopped mixing themself mixing each other around us.
The final battle of our eternal struggle was only retarded to another life.

3-1-0

Me and my friend Danilo played 4 games for fun, 2 preside and 2 postside.
1)
He hit hard my own mana base with Waste and CoW. No way to develop a decent amount of mana on table. E resolved a Standstill partially locking me down. I conceded after an E.E. that killed my moxen all at once.
2)
I started with a first turn Walk and a little Skeletal during his EoT. I Duressed his hand taking out ReB and resolved a TFK too. He Topdecked CoW which I cannot crush. Before it would become a nightmare again I cicled more soldier than him two times ending the game soon.
3)
I had tool now to stop his CoWs and his SOldiers ( D-Blow and E.E. ). Duress make a good work on leaving him only with useless counters ( ReBs for Skeletals and Mis-D for TFKs and FoF ) and he conceded soon after with no cards in hand.
4)
The game went on resembling the third one. I felt that my build was strictly superior to his one especially post side, especially because of Duress and Y Will. This test added to me more confidence on the control mirror.

Turn 5 - SuicideBlack
Game 1
He killed me with Shade and a Duress.

I sided in 2 Edicts, 2 D-Blow 2 E.E. and a Decree taking out 3 Furnaces 2 Duress and 1 Mindtwist.

Game 2
He resolved Ritual Duress taking out FoW and Chains
He resolved a NEgator and a Shade.
I killed his Chains when I decided to start drawing cards and I plowed and Edicted his own creatures.
Draining 2 cc spells made a few soldiers but they were enough to win
Game 3
He resolved Ritual Duress taking out FoW and Rod
He resolved a NEgator and a Shade.
I killed his Rod when I decided to start resolving Moxen and I Plowed and Edicted his own creatures.
Draining 2 cc spells made a few soldiers but they were enough to win

4-1-0 ( probably 5-0-0 )

Turn 6 - 2C-C-Slavery
Game 1
He played a first turn LoA and I didn't draw into one of my Duresses or MIndtwist or massive Drawers before it become deadly.
He won the game but in a slowly way because of Furnaces that controlled a bit his grave.
In the end he won all the counter wars and the entire game.
Game 2
He played a first turn LoA AGAIN. I discarded a bit but Intuition take me with one counter less than the needed number and I lose that first counter war. My own drawers resolved but he was continually drawing cards from LoA with me unable to keep him low on resources.
At some point he forced me a spell during my eot and then a tinker in his mainphase and then an hardcasted Mindslaver. I blocked all his bombs BUT he layed land and then Walked into another turn. He topdecked another Mindslaver and, during my own turn, he topdecked a Braisntorm from my deck that TOTALLY RUINED my future plans. I had 2 lands on top of my deck with almost no resources in hand. He rosolved Titan and Welder and beated me down.
Good match!

4-2-0 ( probably 5-1-0 )

Turn 7 - ???
Game 1 & 2
My aura forced my opponent to preventively drop the entire tourney giving me the last victory for free. Smile

5-2-0 ( probably 6-1-0 )
