Ok, I'm SICK of Goblins. Wizards needs to stop making goblins for a few sets. Everytime goblins phase out of type 2, newer ones come in and people can still make good decks around them. Red needs some new creature types, or need to resurect some old school ones. I mean I know there are billions of goblins, they're all ugly, pyros, and like to throw rocks. I get the point, enough already.
Here's a list of creatures I'd like to see:
Effreet Rukh Roc Kobolds Nomads Hydra Cyclops Manticore Chimera Orgg Effigy Giant Minataur Yetti / Windigo Satyr Phoenix Troll Orc Orge Sphinx Troglodyte / Viashino Xill Delver Hellcats
If any of you guys could think of any, list them here. I'd love to petition Wizards into not making any more Goblins! Denz

But goblins are the defining red creature! They are red! To get rid of them is to get rid of Magic itself. Or atleast the color red.
Off the top of my head, Goblins are the only creature to be consistently found in every plane of the Magic storyline. I'm not sure, but I think Dragons may share this trait as well (Angels would have if there were some in Kamigawa, there's still one set to go so let's hope!) Thus comes the question: Did man come from Goblin?
Sorry for the long rant. I would agree that a new dominant creature type would be refreshing for red. They have to be small and annoying though, like Goblins. So I say Kobolds should take their turn in the spotlight.

Rukh Hydra Chimera Phoenix
I would really like to see some red creatures made that aren't just dirty, brainless hordes of animals. Phoenix are really cool too.

Orcs would be pretty cool, because not only have they not been a signifigant tribe for a long time, they are also an interesting race that not a lot has been done with.

Someone correct me if im wrong but doesn't kobold mean goblin in German. Im pretty sure someone told me not if not nvm then. BTW have goblins really been all that playable except during onslaught block??? Even still i hate goblins they are annoying to play against its almost like playing against combo since all they do is play out a bunch of spells and then attack completly ignoting the opponet except under very rare circumstances.

There also weren't any in Legends, but that wasn't any specific plane. *Actually I think Eron the Relentless was a king amoung goblins but there were no actual goblin cards.

Someone correct me if im wrong but doesn't kobold mean goblin in German. Im pretty sure someone told me not if not nvm then. I have no idea where goblin came from but I do know where kobold came from: Some centuries ago, people were still rough and manly and were real miners. Not those fake-ass dudes that have safety over everything: real men. Most of them. Now, those men had to mine the mineral called cobalt, lots of other minerals as well but that one is the only one mattering in this story. That mineral is called "kobalt" in Dutch, and probably in German as well. Replace the A with a O and there you have it! However, what does this have to do with spirits? Now, that mineral has the tendency of being quite dangerous in gas form and lots of miners died from it. The rest is something you can undoubtly figure out yourself. Not sure if this is 100% correct though, I believe it is. Edit: Dwarves.

They tried Dwarves in Odyssey. Turns out that dwarves are hell of boring. Stodgy little bastards, and all the art looks ridiculous and similar.
I think this proposal goes too far. Rather than junk goblins alltogether, I want to see a return to the dangerous goblins of old - I'm tired of goblins being jokesters and comic relief. Fuck that. I want to see the menacing flavor of something like [card]Goblin Caves[/card] or [card]Goblin Shrine[/card]. Goblins should be the stuff of children's nightmares, not Gilligan.

To whomever said Orcs:
Congratulations, we'd still be the victims of a shameless fantasy-era stereotype.
I'd go with Dragons is there were some way to make a non-cookie-cutter competitive deck with them. Most dragons are just a kind of one-shot finishers, like Rorix Bladewing was.
EDIT: Matt, you don't find Gilligan the stuff of nightmares?

Goblins fulfill red's desire to be fast and swarmy. I, too, am tired of seeing them, though. I recently sent a question to Wizards, wondering why Kamigawa block continued the string of Goblins, while all of the other colours' tribes got shaken up. I would definitely like to see some diversity in red's playbook. I think that dwarves could be made interesting, but Matt is right -- they were not particularly well done in Odyssey block. Orcs, I think, should not come back. They're not so significantly different from goblins (in fact, if Tolkien is your reference, they're actually the same species!) In any case, because of the Lord of the Rings, it's probably best to just avoid Orcs, for the time being. I think that refocusing on Minotaurs, Ogres, or Trolls would be really good, but then red loses the swarmy flavour of its creatures, since those creatures tend to be a bit larger than Goblins (although Onslaught block showed us that Goblins don't have to be little!) -- not that I'd mind that, but it might not fit with Wizards' vision of the colour.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

Yeah, the Oddy. Dwarves sucked, but Dwarven Pony.. Ooooh!
The blacksmith dudes from Fallen Empires > Random Slaves from Oddy. block. (Take Dwarven Lieutenant for example)
Edit: oh, and Goblins are usually 1/1 as where Dwarves are a lot bigger and thus they differ a lot!

Well, I wish they would beef up Ogres a lil bit. They have the chance considering all the Demon junk dealing with them lately. Giants would be nice too.
