Lightning Storm - 2RR Enchantment Fading 4 XR, Remove a fading counter from Lightning Storm: Lightning Storm does X damage to target creature or player.
It's an invested card, but that's less important because it fades. The idea is you either go to the dome twice, meaning you get 9 damage out of it if you drop it turn 4, or you can drop it, burn a small creature, then untap and get to kill two more creatures for one card.

I will be honest, Anusien, I don't know what to make of this card. Fading is a difficult mechanic for me to judge -- but the fact that this card uses its fading counters for its effect makes it even harder. My first thought is that this is substantially worse than Ancient Hydra, which is pretty mediocre, in my opinion, but I could be wrong about that.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

*Bump* I apparently lost a lot of cards into the Aether of the CCF, and I'm trying to go back and find all the ones I did early.

This card is probably way too good. In limited, Fireball is a huge bomb, and this is a double Fireball. Nothing betas a creature stall better than 14 or so points of burn to the face. If you don't want to wait, kill their biggest creatures on turn 5 and 6 and swing in with all your early creatures a couple of times. Also, take current T2 as an example of its bustedness. As soon as the opp taps out for Meloku or Keiga, punish them by sending 10 points of burn to their face with one card. This, in combination with anything at all, wins the game by itself and drops turn 4.

A higher casting cost or more red specific with less fading counters is my suggestion: However, fading is a mechanic not likely to return, just like buyback, so it might be worth it to just remove it all together.
Something like
3RR: Lightning Storm comes into play with two Storm counters on it. When there are no counters on Lightning Storm, remove Lightning Storm from the game. RRRR: Same thing.
If you wanted to, you could have it deal damage to the person using it as well.
Like: Lightning Storm comes into play with two Storm counters on it. When there are no Storm counters left on Lightning Storm, remove Lightning Storm from the game. XR, Remove a Storm Counter from Lightning Storm: Deal X damage to target creature or player and X damage to you.

Cards like these are either really bad or really good, and it's very difficult to find the mean, particularly since something like this will generally only be good in Limited. What if the damage it dealt was linked to the fading counters?
Something like "XR: Lightning Storm deals X damage to target creature or player, where X is equal to the number of fading counters on Lightning Storm. Remove a Fading Counter from Lightning Storm."
