Congrads to Nate for winning. That bird poop deck seemed to answer all the time when he needed it. *cough* like in round 1 *cough*
And I'm sure we'll see more people next month because 1st will take home a Recall.

Nice to see an Oath/Salvager combo deck make the top 2 again. Unfortunately for me, I went 3-3 with my version this tournament. I beat fish, fcg, and alluren deck but lost to slaver, man show, and the werebear deck. Congrats to Nate.
I noticed the oath/salvager deck listed only has 54 main and 14 SB. I'm guessing it's missing a tinker and a swamp or underground sea...and maybe 3 other lands. Please post the full list if you have it.
I'm also curious, if the deckowner reads the mana drain, how the timetwister and colossus/maindeck worked for him this tourney.

I too am happy to see Salvager decks make high finishes (finally).
I would very much like to see a report by First or Second place players.
I have personally found Tinker for Colossus to be invaluable, and would never ever cut it.
Nate's deck has 10 hate cards for Tim's deck. 4 Swords, 4 Meddling Mages and 2 Null Rods, and that's just game 1!
Congrats to both players!

Yes, I hope everyone sees what won this month and plays that deck. I'm bored with Oath and Salvager decks all over for crying out loud.
These stats are interesting: 6 sets of Mana Drain 1 set of Mishra's Workshop 2 sets of Meddling Mage 0 Dark Ritual 0 Bazaar of Baghdad
Btw, LotusHead, When did you start playing this deck? hmm.

"Btw, LotusHead, When did you start playing this deck? hmm."-Methuselahn
I've been piloting Salvagers since the release of 5th Dawn. As far as the Oath Engine, I've been piloting it for about 6 weeks. Just took 10 cards out of my existing deck and replaced it with 4 Oath, 4 Orchard, 1 Blessing, 1 Lion's Eye Diamond. Works like a champ.
Still am happy to see Salvagers performing well. Pester the top 8 people to give a report! Inquireing minds want to know!

Sorry about not playing Bazaars in to the top 8, but i did put workshop's in. I played Dragon last month at the Den and wanted to play a different deck this week. With 3sphere being restricted Workshop became the plan. I might we working on something with Drains this week and the Den.
BTW Jeff, we have to get you in to a top 4 at Dreamers soon so you can play in the free tourney. Just get matched up with me and I'll run splits with ya if you have good match ups or something.

I went 3-3 (i think but i was tiered that day so i might be wrong) playing the belcher gifts deck. Deffinattly not playing that again next time if anything the gifts are definatly turning into intuitions and AKs over thirsts and then i can still combo with belcher recoup mana severacne but probably will just play combo since 3 shpere is gone plus its much more fun than control.

Thank you for the congratulations. I barrowed the deck from Jesse Rivers and Donald Lewis as I own little to no type 1 cards so big thanks to them. I would do a report but I'm not really the best writter I'd rather just give some advice on how I beleive the deck should be played and how I would change the deck after the tournement. I was told the entire tournement that the deck is suppose to play early threat and beat down as fast as possible. My thoughts on the deck are that you should play more conservatively and try to control your opponents lands and mana artifacts counter or lock down there few key spells via the dazes force of wills and meddling mages and late game bring the pain with the mongooses and bears. THIS IS NOT A BEATDOWN DECK. Turn 1 mongoose turn 2 expend a lot of cards to get threshold is not going to win you as many games.
A few changes to the list in Jeffs post I'd make are: Cut the lotus petals this wasn't suppose to be in the deck at all but I receive the deck 5 minutes before the tournement started and didn't catch a couple of changes Jesse had made to the deck. I would consider playing less or no werebears the entire day I sided them out nearly every match and very rarely did they do anything when I did have them in and drew them. There were too many blasts in the board for this tournement but the dreamers metagame is ussually something like 1/4 FCG which seemed like a scary match up. Things I would add are more null rods main, a regrowth main, another misdirection, and I'd make some changes to the 8 blasts in the board probably go down to 6 blasts at the most.

Things I would add ... another misdirection... What exactly were you Misdirecting all day? I mean there aren't that many good misdirectable spells anymore....

That's a pretty poor response gustoh. Ancestral Recall is obvious. I would guess Dante is assuming more than that.
So here is an attempt to defend Nate and his desire for another Misdirection;
1, First, I re-state the fact that there were 6 sets of Mana Drains in the Top 8, with that comes 6 sets of Force of Will. The tournament, from what I saw, was flooded with Oath, Salvager-combo, and Control Slaver. 3cc and even 4cc were also played and lasted quite a while. I'm not sure of any Goth Slaver decks this time.
2, The mana curve of the deck tops out at 2, seeing as how the deck is 3 colors, this makes Misdirection very appealing, I'd bet.
3, Since it's unofficial official debut in Syracuse, Bird Shat has already won a tourny here. You can bet that other people will pick it up too. Misdirection could be good in the *gasp* Bird Shat mirror.

yes, obv Misdirecting an Ancestral is good. And yes, I know you can misdirect a counter to the misdirection itself (and I know that if you misdirect a mana drain to itself, the drain won't resolve and they won't get 5 mana). Basically I was looking for something like:
"I said I wanted to add a 3rd Misdirection because 1. Misdirecting counterspells in my environment was highly useful OR 2. there were other spells such as "X" that were key".
If misd'ing a high number of counters was what made it useful, fine. I was just looking for confirmation of that.
