Not really. They do different things. They're both obviously based around Lion's Eye Diamond as a model. This is probably much less powerful, also.

This is reuseable, though, and you can use it to pay for spells if you sacrifice it.

Viable argument, but that's undependable and moves it to a stage in the game where the opponent has answers. What do you do if someone Lava Darts or StP's your Goblin Welder in response to your casting the Diamond? I'm not sure that's an argument for it being overpowered.
