That's a pretty goofy looking top eight. Was this kind of like Castricum 2.0, or were there just some bizarre circumstances?
Like I said, it's a pretty 'casual' enviroment, so it really doesn't mean anything. The judge is just doing it to give the locals a chance to play some magic every once in a while, and I think that's great. Ofcourse, there's always a few more serious players, but it was pretty clear me, jos, jaap, steven, hero wouldn't be playing really serious decks.
Also, as I mentioned when I reported the DracoPlosion win in castricum, I played against 6 serious T1 decks/players, so it was no random circumstances. Also, I did seriously test the deck for 2 weeks before winning with it, so it's not like I didn't put effort in creating the best possible execution of the gameplan. Here, randomness seems to be the case, especially the sui-black player. His tiebreakers tell the story, that he didn't face any real tough opponents until like round 5 (vs Pyro) who had to mull to 5 to draw crap in the games. And then Jos murdered him in Round 6.
I suppose that if you are a good T1 player, especially in tournaments like these, it does not matter at all what you play, since you will outplay your opponents a lot of the time anyway (even if it doesn't seem so apparent at first glance).
