Please vote, but don't post any responses. I'm not interested in a flame war, just in gauging public opinion on this issue.

Edit!

Jacob, I don't understand your poll. Are you asking if steve has the right to speak for the other members, or if that is how we interpret what he says?

I'm asking if that's how you interpret it.

Where's the option for "sometimes yes, sometimes no"? My answer also depends on the subject of discussion.

If you want to make a partial yes vote (either sometimes yes, or yes for some topics, or both), please vote "agree".

Oh, and it might also help to give a meandeck roll call.

I agree that the question is awkwardly phrased to the subject and may induce different answers.

The Way I'd phrase what he's getting at is:

Does you perceive that Smmenen's opinion reflects the opinion of all team meandeck members all the time regarding T1?

That's how you should have phrased the question.

Actually, I'd rather not, since I'm interested in how people view Meandeck as an entity, and not as a collection of individuals.

Stephen: I think the current question is adequate.

If anyone was confused, and wants to change their vote based on the clarifications I offered earlier (but not on any proposed rewordings), feel free to PM me. I can keep a running tally of the changes here.

The question you are trying to answer is not the question you asked.  I jsut want to be clear about that.

Jacob,

Can we include a "neutral" option?  The answer choices right now seem to be organized on a Likert scale but all Likert scales include a neutral option.  Moreover, that's the one I'd pick, were it offered.

I considered that, but then I realized two things:
1. What does a neutral vote even mean?
2. People can just not vote instead.

Here is the thing:
What does it mean to say "Strongly Disagree." That would mean that nothing I say speaks for the team.  That is obviously not true since we share data, testing and often views on matchups.

What does it mean to say "disagree"?  It means that what I say does not generally apply to team meandeck members.  That seems pretty unlikely for the reasons given above.  The only reason to vote here is becuase of the phraseology "the entirety of meandeck" or because of my non-format analysis statements, jabs, prods, etc.

Therefore, even if I were of the opinion that I do NOT speak the vast majority of the time for meandeck, it is not inconsistent to vote "agree" becuase even if I speak opinions with the whole team shares over 50% of the time, then voting agree is reasonable.

The Neutral vote would reflect the circumstances and context in question.
The neutral opinion is actually the most likely opinion.  Therefore, you won't get a good sample either.

Therefore, even if you don't think that I am speaking for meandeck, it is likely that you might vote for the "agree" option, defeating the whole puprose of the poll.

If that's the case, then how do you explain all the votes for the disagree options?

The variety of responses strongly suggests that people were able to choose an option that closely aligns with their real opinion.
