For a long time now, I've been playing FCG in T1 tournaments. I've gotten tired of that and now I'm going to look into getting a deck together for play in both T1 and T1 with proxies.

I want to aim for a budget deck that I can actually play in sanctioned T1 tournaments and have a chance with it. Fish might be an idea but I don't know if that's good enough anymore and, if it is, what a current list would be like.

Could anyone out there help me out... I need some ideas.

I wouldn't suggest fish, it just isn't very good any more. If you are looking for budget w/ proxies I would suggest combo. Also how many Proxies are allowed in the tournaments that you go to?

I don't have any fast mana because Chalice for 0 takes them out.  It's really obvious to the elite magic community that you should try to play around Chalice.  Anyone who doesn't is dumb.  Moxes are really overrated anyway.  I have lands that are alot better.  And come on, LOTUS KILLS ITSELF.  How am I supposed to win the permanent race against Stax when LOTUS KILLS ITSELF???

Thanks for the info.

The number of proxies is 13 but there are also non-proxy tournaments... maybe I should just stick to FCG for those.

With 13 proxies, I'd (probably) have to proxy the P9 for most of the combo decks and have room for 4 other proxies (I have my own FoWs thankfully). I don't know a lot about these decks; between Dragon, Perfect Storm, Doomsday, Deathwish Tendrils and... others, which one would be the best in terms of getting the deck together?

If you are going to proxie the power I would say deathlong. The only expensive cards that aren't power in the deck are vampiric tutor, mana crypt,  and tolarian academy. there are some other cards that are kind of expensive but they're not very hard to get.

If you want an EXTREMELY budget deck to play in a tournament that would actually have a chance, depending on the Skill Level™ of the players where you play, try this:

Mana: 28
10 SC Swamp
10 Swamp
4 Dark Rit
4 Cabal Rit

Animate Targets: 5
3 WGD
1 AL
1 Verdant Force

Disruption: 4
4 Duress

Tutors: 9
4 Tainted Pact
4 Spoils of the Vault
1 Demonic Tutor

Throw in some animates and a couple of other things and you have a turn 2-3 under 100$ deck.

Otherwise try White Weenie, it may sound stupid but it has good matchups against a lot of the field including Slaver, Dragon, Oath, 3cc and fish due to cards like meddling mage, true believer, Samurai of the Pale Curtain, Aether Vile and StP. The build im currently running is:
Mana: 23
1 Islands
8 Plains
4 Flooded Strand
4 Tundra
3 Wastelands
1 Strip Mine
1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Pearl

Blue stuff: 2
1 Ancestral Recall
1 Time Walk

Removal: 4
4 Swords to Plowshares

The utility artifacts: 8
4 Aether Vial
4 Skullclamp

Creatures: 23
4 True Believer
4 Icatian Javelineers
4 Meddling Mage
3 Samurai of the Pale Curtain (if you play a lot of slaver add the last one)
3 White Knight (if you dont play a lot of aggro remove these)
1 Isamaru Hound of Konda
3 Kami of Ancient Law (if you play a lot of Oath add the last one)

I know the synergi between skull clamp and Samurai sucks but from what testing I have done, I have found that both can win games so I didnt exclude either.
My current Sideboard is:
4 Abolish
3 Serenity
4 Orims Chant
4 Rootwater Thief

Wow 13 proxies, why not just build something like CS or whatever you might want to build. If you already have Fow's than the only hard cards to get for a lot of decks are duals (sometimes drains but that fits in to 13 proxies).

I might move up to smth like that if I decide to invest more in T1. Many decks would have me proxy most (or all) of the P9 and 4 of Drain, Bazaar or MWS. That's actually the idea behind 13 Proxy but I'm still not that close to any good deck.

The WW idea looks interesting. I'd really like to try something like it b/c all those creatures have such good utility.

How about doomsday, it can be made 13 proxy for about a little less than 30 bucks. Another choice might be oath, you will need to proxy 4 drains and the 8 power it runs which still leaves you with a proxy slot which you could fill in.

I don't think you're going to find a single deck that can be played well with and without power/proxies.  With 13 proxies you can build most any combo deck, or even slaver/stax, if you have the duals.   However, if you are looking to invest in cards that can be used for both proxy and non-proxy tourneys.  I would really look at dragon.  DicemanX has numerous reports and even a primer on it.  It's reasonably cheap to build.  It runs fairly well in budget form, and runs great with power/bazaars.
