Eudemonia 3 was held the day after SC Chigago and 35 players showed up.

I myself played Cerebral Assasin to a 5th place finish after losing to Salvager Oath in the quarter finals.  Mana Severance Charbelcher pretty much identical to Kowals winning deck from SC beat that Salvager deck in the semi and proceeded to beat a cool Madness deck in the finals (yes I said madness)

Top 8 decklists will be posted at www.eudemonia.net/p9

Congrats to the winner and thanks to all of the players who continue to show to these events and I hope to see you all and more at the next tourney.

Congrats on the 5th place, did you win anything?

Also, what was the field like? Was there lots of Oath, Slaver, etc? I'm thinking about going to one of these tournaments, so I'm curious.

I received $30 in store credit, and free entry into the final black lotus tournament with a first round bye.

there was a lot of oath (both salvager and regular styles) and a little of just about everything else.  This tourney was really more open than say the past two, with really only oath taking more than 3 or 4 deck spots.

top 8 list is up now at www.eudemonia.net/p9 and it actually shows me in 7th (but oh well I still get same prizes eh.)

overall prize structure for this tourney was....

1st - Mox Ruby (U) and $20 store credit
2nd - $70 (75$) store credit
3rd-4th - $45 Store Credit
5th-8th - $30 Store Credit
9th - Some cool foil unglued card or something (originally going to be a minty land tax but they ran out or something)

Top 4 get free entry into final lotus tourney with first round bye. (players cannot receive more than 1 entry so it goes down to next in line.)

I received mine because 3 players above me had already qualified for the free entry.  This is outlined on eudemonias p9 site.

You should come though, they really are a lot of fun, with lots of great players, and its a great store anyways.

For those interested in how Oath Salvagers has been doing at thisournies, I made top 4.  The list in on www.Eudemonia.net and the main change from last time is dropping AK's altogether for 2 Deep Analysis and adding 2 more fun cards maindeck (and finding room for Rushing River in the side). The theory is, Oathing up a DA is cooler than Oathing up AK's. The recent analysis/debate in Slaver decks caused me to test out 2 DA and no AK. So far so good.

Mini-Report:

Round 1: Brian Wu with bUg Oath (maybe DOA).
Games 1&2, God Hands by me.  Survived a first turn Duress on the draw and comboing off turn 3 or so (via Oathing up Colossus). It was over pretty quickly. Game 2 involved the Trinket Mages beating down.

Round 2: Stasis deck!
Won 2/3 games.  Lost one to my own spirit tokens.  It happens.

Round 3: Andre playing ???
I lost game 1 to my spirit tokens, won game 2 by comboing off and we drew game 3 due to time.  At this point I still had no Idea what he was playing.  Turns out it was 4c Tog.

Round 4: Alex playing Ug Oath (Meandeck style, with Wishes)

Lost 2/3 games due to me sucking at Magic (and not making the correct play). It's all good, he's on my team and we have the same record at this point

Round 5: David Ochoa (Webster) playing Control Slaver
Games 1&2: Identical games of me playing Oath first turn with no Force Backup and him not having a first turn Oath.  Both games were over very quick and I just hoped to get lucky rather than out play him. I got lucky.

Round 6: Someone playing Oath.
Games 1&2, I combo off rather quickly and I have the forsight for once to Brain Freeze my deck in addition to his deck so as to have a fat graveyard (I had a suspicion he was playing with Gaea's Blessing). I am only just now starting to see the finer aspects of Toad's Gifts Salvager deck with only BrainFreeze as the kill (no Pyrite).  Will look into that later.

4-1-1 gets me top 8 slot (out of 35 players)

Top 8: Lunar playing Cereberal Assassin

Game 1 he steals by going broken with turn 1 Bazaar (and me not playing strips), a Resolved Intuition later brings 3 Squees working the Bazaar and I lose.

Game 2 (siding in the Trinket Mages) gives me first turn 3 Moxen, Tolarian Academy, TimeTwister and getting a Salvager and Black Lotus in my new hand, thus securing nice Board Position before my opponent gets his first turn. I win soon after.

Game 3 sees Lunar resolving all his hate.  Tormod's Crypt and Pyrostatic Pillars, along with an early Welder for recurring Crypts.

I fought through the hate by playing Trinket Mages for Explosives and maybe Salvaging Up Expolosives a couple of times.  We both took a lot of damage from Pillar, but I had Trinket Beats on my side.  The game went to time and I comboed off on extra turn 5. Yay!

Top 4: Louis playing Gift's Belcher.

He killed me. 2 Games Straight. Nice deck.

I won 45 in store credit and got a 2nd Mana Crypt with it. Yay.

Props:
Eudemonia for having these on a regular basis in Northern California
That dude for top 8ing at Star City Nine games recently. The buzz was in the air at Eudemonia, because everyone knows that I am the Salvager Guy in this area.

Slops:
To my opponent who actually refused to shake my hand after losing.  Broken Stuff happens, get over it.

Hey lotus great tourney, sorry about davids reaction, (you cant win ALL the time, jeff is a nice guy and you shouldnt let losing to a great deck, and great deck builder get you upset like that) and dont sell yourself short about the luck thing jeff, youve had very strong finishes at eudemonia so keep it up, your deck is cool.

Really if you want to get down to the nitty gritty about our matchup it was ACTUALLY much worse for me than it sounded game 3.

It came down to the FIRST extra turn (I had dice out to count, thus I remember) I had the hate, and was up enough on life that I would have won (even with your mage beats, I could of blocked with welder on your last turn to keep me at 3 and you at 2 to win in sudden death) not to mention you would of had two dice rolls with mana crypt on the table to live through (since you were at two life one bad call and you would of lost, this is also how I know it was the first extra turn)  I also unfortunatly should of won, as the judge pointed out, sigh, my tourney report is buried in the "cerebral/dragon is it viable?" thread on starcity You had lotus and forbidden orchard (also chump blocker to keep my life higher than yours) with salvager in play, and spellbomb in your yard, you activated lotus adding 3w to your pool, I should have then used my tormods crypt (which I didnt) which would of made you respond by tapping orchard and targeting lotus again which I could have then responded by welding seat of the synod for tormods crypt to kill it again, leaving you without a lotus so no combo that turn, which would of left you at the mercy of my next two turns and your own crypt...but alas I played like a chump due to tiredness and your deck making me nervous  Wink Another great finish for salvagers though, I hope to see you on the 8th jeff.
