I hadn't planned on writing a report. I was worried that by doing so, I'd inadvertently make fun of the Midwest and devalue my win. Then I realized I played like an asshat all day and still won, so I don't really feel like I earned it anyway. I'm still looking at this Black Lotus wondering why it's here, because I don't think I played optimally in any game all day...

I had no idea this was going to be premium, but I think it's sweet.  And the Yawgatog art gives me a stiffy.

Great Report and congrats on the high finish! You and Probasco were def. good company, it's a shame we had to leave so soon. I would write a report to hijack this thread, but I went 1-2 drop, and proceeded to Split an 8 man side event. Oh and also, reb- has the coolest name EVAR. Jesus ROXASS!

As well it should! That was sweet Smile

What's up btw with claiming you played horribly, yet still won? Surprised

Congrats! and a great tourney report! I was kinda ennoyed by the little picture in the article that showed gifts with the 4 stereotyped cards saying "you decide," because this deck is sooo versatile that depending on your hand and game state there are a TON of viable choices for what 4 cards to pick which is what makes the deck difficult to play. However, great job taking a rather uknown deck (accept for people who know you/brassman or play at the beenie exchange) and do so well with it... Im just upset my pet deck will become popular.

Congrats Ben, suprisingly you didnt even moxie up!  So now you and Brassman are 1-1 for Darksteel Citadel vs. Stripmine, and Boseiju is still in the 0 bracket.  Definitely requires more and more testing, grats though!

That was right next to this paragraph:

Whether or not this was intentional, it's a pretty similar gift to the kind Gifts Ungiven gives you. Recoup, Mana Severance, Yawgmoth's Will, Tinker - Here, you decide!

A couple hours in some bizarre 1am Chicago traffic

There's always traffic like that into the city on a Saturday night.  The "regular" bars stay open until 3am and the "late" bars are open until 5am, same for places in the suburbs that are also in cook county, so people are constantly all over the place.

The extra mana source like you have is definitely the way to go...

Congratulations to you on the win.  I think it's also a really great thing that you piloted a deck type that just a few months ago seemed to have an uncertain future into a first place win.  Keep rockin'.
