I'm just looking for a good online game to fart around with ... I currently play a lot of America's Army (well by a lot I mean 30mins a day). But I am looking for a new game to get involved in ... I need something else to take over the rest of my life that isn't magic! |

Try ChronX by Genetic Anomalies.(www.chronx.com ) It was the very first online virtual collectible cardgame (it existed way before WotC even started thinking about MTGO). It is a game in which the objective is to destroy your enemies headquarters. It's totally savage and the only game I ever played that was more enjoyable than Magic. There's a free trial account thingy and you can buy (cheap) boosters. Singles are for sale, too. Indication: Very Rares cost around $2-6, rares are like 25 cts., uncommons 5 cts. and commons 1 ct. or something. Most expensive cards (prizes for championships etc.) are 35-60 bucks or so. If you sign up and end up playing someone from the AoA (Age fo Anarchy) faction, tell them hi from me Oh, the names are uebercool (Hasaku Skullgun, High Flux Nuke, Von Neumann Demon), and there's insane flavor texts ('The most xenophobic of the sects, the Grom believe that those outside the monasteries should be 'recycled' back to nature' ). Some of the art is mediocre but most of it is wicked cool. Scott Fischer of Magic fame did some stuff for them in the past. |

 CS 1.5
Server: fury.biz, you can connect to it by going to console and typing "connect fury.biz". It's based in Albany so you should get good ping even if you're as far as Boston.

If you're not planning on getting addicted to a computergame and forsake everything you once lived for: don't play world of warcraft. And if so.. well let's have fun! |

 Sooner or later, it's
 CopenhagenCounter-Strike
But seriously, CS rocks and if you play other online games and then move up to CS, you'll be disappointed you wasted your time with the other games.

(Other) HL2 mods are great as well.

does anyone here remember natrual selection? It was wicked hard to play, and had a steep learning curve, but if you could find a good server/team it was the most amazing HL mod I have ever seen. Playing as a Marine in the early stages was scary as all hell, and super team-work dependant. I always hated it when some new guy would just rush off into the station by himself to get killed. Playing as an alien was just down right cool. Fades w/ invis on was soooo sweet, and you could just tear though entire unprepared marine squads. |

 mmmm....
 2.0

honestly I haven't played in months. It just became too much of a pain to find good severs. Not only was the game pretty graphics intensive (although if you can run CS source, and therefore half-life 2...) limiting the number of players, BUT to enjoy it you actually had to be good.

The learning curve (and the fact that playing as humans was teamwork dependant) killed any possibility of massive playability, which is prob one of the saddest things ever.

but damn, it was one of the most innovative and rewarding FPS I have ever seen. Between the the choice of aliens and humans, AND the commander option...*sigh*

 whats CS: Source like?
I heard it was a pretty fun game, but not as good as the Orignal Counterstrke ...

Does CS: Soruce come with Half Life 2 or something? A lot of HalfLife 2 users seem to own it ...

Like a significantly more pretty (although just on-par with current games) Counter Strike.
Even the most popular maps are the most popular ones from the original. Get ready for a lot of Dust, Dust II, Aztec, and assult.

the weapons are mostly the same, although there are a few significant tweaks (like WTF is up with the new auto-sniper? Its soo good to the point that awping now elicits absolutely no comment)

The one thing I hate about counter-strike to this day is the people on it. Seriously, they are some of the most abusive online personalities that you will ever meet. Not to mention childish, racist, whiny, etc. This obviously doesn't apply to everyone out there who plays, but in genearl I am never left with a good impression of the populace.

If you like the original, you will like source.

Actually the weapons are really different. The AWP is terrible while the scout is ridiculous. The updates to the autosniper happened in 1.5, it's been this good for awhile. 1.5 is way better, only noobs play 1.6. Seriously the quality of players is so much better in 1.5 because the best clans refuse to move over to 1.6. |

It is a team-oriented game, and if you don't find a server with people who don't suck...then the people on your team are going to suck. |

Best clans? You mean like the ones that play for money and win it? Wait, there is no money in 1.5 tournaments. How can the best clans play it, then? Isn't 1.5 like 3-4 years old, anyway? Seriously, the weapons in 1.5 broke the maps. Aztec can't be balanced with quickzooming awps. Source has extremely balanced weapons, at balanced prices, on both of the teams. I don't see any CAL leagues running 1.5, either. And that's where all the cool kids play. |

Bottom line: the people who play 1.6 are terrible. The quality of the average 1.5 player to the 1.6 player is vast. I prefer to play in an environment with more skilled players because winning is that much more challenging. |

Best clans? You mean like the ones that play for money and win it? Yeah, those exist. Although only the top of the elite play for money: most regular high ranked clans play for stuff like graphic cards and stuff like that. And of course, if you're sponsored: you can just get free stuff (where you would normally had to pay for) and the only thing you have to do in return is win and spam the sponsor's name. And not to mention that the big money is not won online but at events. Bladefist (lagfist.. I don't recommend it), kasuras, horde, lvl26 warlock at the moment. (been playing since like.. 2 months and I have my own copy for about a week, so that kinda explains the "low" level.) |
