Wow, that guy has good feedback too. I'm glad there are no bids on it.

Not suprising at all. It is rather sad how so many people as well sell pictures of a card and get the actual bids from some poor guy in Germany who can't read English correctly.

Proxy auctions are getting WAYYYY out of hand as well, some sell for almost $200 for PROXIES!

The real question is: should those people be allowed outside the .de realm?

Agreed.  It's crazy that proxies sell for that much, they are really not that hard to make if you take your time!

1. Acetone (nail polish remover) to remove card ink from card front.
2. Use MWS to print high quality proxy sheet on normal paper.
3. Tape-down blank white-front cards exactly over printed card image on same sheet, send it through the printer again.

Voila! Proxies!  Made from real cards with, so back, thickness, etc. is perfect, obviously a proxy to a good trader, and super fun to play unsleeved.

Check out these proxies, very cool but I don't think I would pay THAT much for them.

The worst part is some tool bought it Sad

And it even states under it "please send email address for softcopy, or mailing address for hardcopy"

Wouldnt you ask yourself "What the hell is a softcopy beta black lotus?" even if you didnt know anything about computers?

As much as I hate it when people sell proxies online, them foil P9 proxies look really nice.
I might pay $20 for a set of those, but I would never pay more than that.
They're great if your going for that "all foil" type 1 deck Smile

I must admit that the foil powerproxies look awesome, but how stupid can you be to pay $255 (200 euros) for that??
Like Kowal says, nobody will allow them in any tournament as 'real' proxies.

Foil power proxies are the worst.  They're stupidly thick.  I wouldn't allow them in my tournaments and I know SCG banninates them.

My friend is actually the person who makes those foil power proxies, they are very high quality.  They are made from actual foil magic cards, thus are the same thickness as a normal foil.  The thickness is consistant with that of a foil from a pack and will easily shuffle into a deck without any problems a normal foil wouldn't present.  But anyway, they were made from scans of my power and I use a set of them as proxies most of the time.

Bill.

PS: I'll have a few sets of them at the SCG power tourney in Chicago, and I'll be more than happy to show them off.

Forgot to mention he has actually now converted them into 8th ed format.  So, you can actually get them in the old or new format now.  The 8th ed ones look pretty neat.  The foil template is still the old foil template (ie: the whole card is foiled, not just certain parts), just the card face is updated.  The moxen and lotus have tap arrows, and all the cards have updated text as well.

Here is another EBay ripoff. If you read the product description carefully...
Quote
Released in October of 1997, Tempest was the twelfth Magic; expansion. Containing 350 cards, Tempest marked the start of the Rath Cycle block of expansions for DCI Standard Tournament play. Apocolypse came out in 2001.The Apocalypse expansion includes randomly inserted foil-finished premium cards in a limited, 143 all-new, black-bordered card set featuring 44 rares, 44 uncommons and 55 commons.Premiered at Origins '93 in July of that year, Magic: The Gathering; was first released to the general public on August 5, 1993. The "Alpha" set consisted of 295 cards. After the Alpha print run of 2.6 million cards, some corrections were made and the remaining 7.3 million cards were released as the "Beta" set (302 cards). These first 10 million cards sold out quickly, and in December 1993, the Unlimited Edition was released. This white-bordered set consisted of the same 302 cards as the Beta print run. Although the black lotus you are bidding on is from unlimited you are getting a copy of the card that i made not the real one. sorry for any inconvience. The Revised Edition of the basic set was released in April 1994 with 306 cards. The white-bordered set "cleaned up" several rules and graphical oversights from the previous Unlimited basic set.Released in June 1995, Ice Age was the most anticipated set of the era. The first true stand-alone expansion (383 cards), this set is compatible with the basic game, but also contains enough basic land and basic spells to be playable without additional cards.

How far does a seller have to go with this sort of crap before he can be reported to EBay as misrepresenting the items that he's selling?

Edit:
I looked over the listing a second time and I realized that earlier in the description, he had posted the following...
Quote
You are bidding on one Magic The Gathering (MTG)  lot of 8 cards. All are rare in mint or near mint condition and it includes...

Dracoplasm, Haunting Apparition, Segmented Wurm, Black Lotus, Krakilin, Pyrexian Colossus, Svelunite Temple, and Skyshroud Forest

Because this statement misrepresents the Black Lotus as a Magic The Gathering card, which it is not, I reported the listing. It may be a technicality, but that sort of nonsense isn't right.

Nice work, it's already closed. People that make these auctions should be tortured or forced to watch Bush' election commercials or something.

After looking over EBay policies, it is against their rules to sell replicas at all. Even if a seller was, seemingly, being absolutely clear about the nature of his replicas, it would be appropriate to report that auction. This means we have a strong weapon to use against these sorts of tactics. I'm glad EBay has strict enough policies that we can do something about misleading (as well as outright dishonest) sellers.
