I've heard that Paypal sucks, is there something better to use? I was thinking about stormpay.com, but they require a home phone...All I have is a cell. Is that common practice among merchant accounts and stuff?

I know this won't happen in a tournament, but if my opponent has Chaos Orb in his hand while I'm controlling his turn from a Mindslaver, who flips the card if I force him to play it and activate it?

Indeed, no complaints here either. Only thing that could be annoying is that there is a limit on the amount of money you can send / receive if you don't attach a credit card. But as long as you aren't a bigtime pimp dealer, this shouldnt be a problem. |

The only problem is that people can set up a new account, send you money with a credit card, then cancel the payment once they receive your stuff (or use someone else's card, who will then cancel the payment).
Oh, and if you're an idiot, you'll respond to emails that ask for your credit card #, ss #, username/password, etc.

bidpay.com , but PayPal is the best if you have a brain on your shoulders (ie, not get screwed by scammers).

There will always be horror stories simply due to the staggaring amount of transactions that happen daily and the fact that with such a large volume, there will be a small percentage of problems. I have never had a problem, and I am certain there is nothing that will even hold a candle to paypal in the markey for online banking and money transfer.

From what I read, Paypal is great if you're a buyer and it sucks if you're a seller.
It's great for buyers because you don't have to give eleventy billion different people your CC number over the 'Net, their buyer protection is pretty good, and it's widely accepted by sellers (at least in Magic cards, I don't eBay that much outside of Magic).
It sucks for sellers because you're pretty much forced to use it (or lose out on sales), it's easy for buyers to cheat you, and if a buyer cheats you your account gets locked up for a long time (you can't even access money that there's no dispute on).

I'm involved with a film project that some people have expressed interest in donating money to. Is Paypal the best way to go to set up an account for donations?

Use Neteller instead... the fees are only half of Paypal's, they won't reverse a transaction and ban you just on a scammer's word, and they don't charge the $0.40 fee Paypal does for each transaction.

Here's where me and PayPal parted ways:
- I sold a Time Walk on eBay for $310 to a Canadian customer.
- He emails me that his friend will be paying me via his PayPal account.
- Payment in full hits my account; I ship the card.
- I transfer money to my bank account (thank God)
- PayPal emails me stating that the payment was made without the account owner's knowledge and was unauthorized.
- PayPal instructs me to add funds to cover the amount in question, my account is locked and they threaten legal action
After contacting PayPal over the phone and explaining that the merchandise was sent in good faith and that it's not my fault that the supposed fraudulently-used account owner is loose with who's looking over his shoulder when he's typing in his password, they tell me tough shit: re-reimburse the account and take the loss.
After questioning whether PayPal can withdraw the cash from my bank account directly and getting confirmation that they indeed CANNOT, I tell them (in so many words) to go scratch. F them.
It'd cost them more to pursue a case in court then it would be worth to attempt to recoup the $310.
The scammer customer whose eBay name is Will Ferrill is most likely pulling this scam with the other guy who owns the 'victim account' as his accomplice.
The moral of the story here is that as a seller Paypal does indeed suck, as they will unquestioningly always side with the buyer whether truthful or otherwise, and you will be out of cash and merchandise.
Use PayPal with caution and transfer all money from your account to your bank account ASAP.

Definetly Paypal is rough with big cards. Here is a nasty situation that happened to me.
In May of last year I sold 4x Underground Sea's for $90.
I purchased tracking on such an item. I get money and positive feedback is left.
IN OCTOBER Paypal contacts me and says the user had a faulty credit card and they took funds out of my Paypal account. By October ya know you kind of throw out such reciepts. It was really really bad.
I sold Workshops recently on Ebay and I will hold the tracking for at least a year!
