I have been tinkering around with mono green decks for a while now, mostly because of all the anti-format cards that are available (that's the pc term for hate decking!).  Rootmaze, ground seal, null rod, these are all cards that give the format fits.  Why not try and put them all in one deck...

GBS (Gorilla Butt Smash)  Jebus should remember that one...

The Team

4 Hidden Gibbons
4 Hidden Guerrillas
4 Elvish Scrapper
4 Scavenger Folk
4 Viridian Zealot

The Tools

4 Rootmaze
4 Null Rod
4 Ground Seal
4 Mirri's Guile

The Realestate

4 Wasteland
1 Stripmine
1 Black lotus
1 Mox Emerald
1 Lotus Petal
4 Elvish Spirit Guide
4 Land Grant
4 Forest
4 Snow-Covered Forest (purely for humor...)

SB (this changes everyday depending on predicted meta)

4 Xantid Swarm
4 Dawnstrider
4 Emerald Charm
3 Naturalize

Card Choices

Hidden Gibbons- these guys are great, with so many instants running around there is no reason not to run these.  These and the guerrillas are like green stand stills.  They do not draw cards but gaining a 4/4 of 5/3 for only 1 mana is a pretty sweet deal. And like stand still they will often make your opponenet rethink plays not wanting to "break" a hidden.

Hidden Guerrillas-first turn guerilla is this decks second best play after first turn rootmaze.  Who doesn't run artifacts in type 1

Elvish Scrapper + Scavenger Folk- there are just too many artifacts and equipment running around that I don't like.  Vials, SoF+I, Belcher, etc.  Also I can drop them out early to prevent CotV from killing me.

Viridian Zealot-Naturalize on a stick.

Rootmaze-this card was good before, once fetchlands became so heavily used, this card became so much of a house.  Makes a fetch land produce mana not on the turn it was dropped, not on the next turn, but another turn later.  I like to waste the tapped land they have brought into play...

Null Rod- stops belcher, vial, equipment, and so much more

Ground Seal- at its worst, it cycles for G1.  at its best it stops welder, recoup, reanimation, and still draws a card.

Mirri's Guile-brainstorm every turn for only one green once.  Lets you draw past duplicate null rods and rootmazes.  Lets you dig 3 everyturn, land grant and shuffle, find new stuff.

This deck is designed purely for fully powered type one environments.  This deck is ass against timmy budget crap.

For those who want more beat and less tools, the creature configuration can be altered to something like this

4 Hidden Gibbons
4 Hidden Geurrillas
4 Skysrhoud Elite
4 River Boa
4 Nimble Mongoose

anyway, comments, suggestions.

Nice try, but contrary to other Decks which are competitive on a budget level (read: Bird Sh*t), I can imagine that this one has some serious problems when faced with the (very popular) Oath decks?

The deck name is hilarious!  One of the more amusing deck names I've heard in a while.  I also get a kick out of the Snow Covered Forests, lol.

One thing I see, is this deck hating on some artifacts, BIG TIME!  Wow, 16 artifact hate cards 4x Elvish Scrapper, 4x Scavenger Folk, 4x Viridian Shaman, and 4x Null Rod seems a bit much.  I think you could probably be safe running some where between 4 and 8 artifact removal.  This would also loosen up some deck space.

The second thing I see is this deck hating on some combo.  12 combo hate is a bit much, 4x Null Rod, 4x Ground Seal, and 4x Root Maze.  I guess this could be a meta call but DAMN!  Even if you cut the Ground Seals all together you'd still be wrecking combo.

Regardless, I feel your running too many copies of conditional cards that don't have a cumulative effect.  What good is it to draw a second Null Rod, or second Ground Seal, or second Mirri's Guile, Root Maze, ect...????  I would cut those down a bit (three of's) and free up some deck space.

On the other hand Mirri's Guile seems a bit overlooked and does quite a bit for its cc, nice synergy with Land Grant.  Hidden Guerrillas seems decent too, doesn't do much in the Fish / Birdshit / Oath match up but then again neither does Null Rod.

Personally I'd cut some of the 4 of's down to 3 of's and seriously consider splashing a color or adding more main deck mana disruption in place of all that artifact hate and set up a new creature base ie: River Boa, Troll Ascestic, Wild Mongrel, ect...  Also, where is Naturalize?  Naturalize > Viridian Shaman / Elvish Scrapper / Scavanger Folk.  It can't attack, but its versitile and fast as fuck.

Thanks Astro.  As I said earlier there is the alternate creature configuration that can be used.

Null Rod is just too powerful not to use

Ground Seal works so well against welder decks and random stuff, plus it hoses recoup, but I guess it could get relegated to the board.

Mirri's guile is what allows the deck to run the 4 ofs and not run into them again.

GBS v.2.0

4 Hidden Gibbons
4 Hidden Guerrillas
4 River Boa
4 Skyshroud Elite
4 Elvish Lyrist
4 Elvish Scrapper
4 Null Rod
4 Rootmaze
4 Mirri's Guile
4 Land Grant
4 Wasteland
1 Strip Mine
1 Black Lotus
1 Mox Emerald
1 Lotus Petal
4 Elvish Spirit Guide
4 Forest
4 Snow-Covered Forest

Why not eternal witnesses, survival of the fittest, genesis & timewalk which JP posted a long time ago?  The blue splash also gives you back to basics in the board for more hate.

If nothing else, you should add squee and survivals for some form of card advantage and more silver bullet creatures.

I would put a force of nature in this deck (or at least in the sidebord), because you can juste win games with it!

Is mirri's guile really better than Sylvan library just cause of the 1 less colourless?  Sylvan can draw you extra cards, there are nummerous matches where you wouldn't mind loosing 12 life for 3 extra cards, also all of your other 1 drops want to come down before the guile so i dont think the extra 1 cc is that bad.

All I have to say is RANCOR???  Where is Rancor?  With that many creatures, Rancor is a house.  Also with everything except for the zealot and null rod being like 1 mana,  why not just drop the wastelands altogether?  They are going to come into played tapped 90% of the time, and produce colorless mana, and with combo and more ppl using basics, they are not as good as you might think.  Instead of disruption throw in some more speed such as bounty of the hunt (chucking that extra naturalize/ground seal/root maze isn't going to hurt after already having one down) and berserk and rancor.  Just my two cents.
