Honestly, that entry fee is quite high for the prizes offered considering that it's going to be held at a store that doesn't have to pay to hold the event.

Are you expecting to get less than 10 people? Or are you just trying to make a profit from the entry fees?

I'd try to rally the kids down here in Binghamton, but it would be a lost cause since they won't pay $15 for an attempt at just an Italian Drain, especially since I myself don't even want to.

It's not my intent to be insulting or start crap or anything like that, but this guaranteed-prize-to-entry-fee ratio sucks. Good luck with it anyway though, I guess...

This is our first run at a "real" proxy tournament (by real, we're a small store, so anything over the ~$50 in prizes that we give away weekly is big) and we thought that $15 would be a fair price, based on the other tournaments in the area with similar prizes (Looking at Syracuse area mainly, I did not have much data for the Binghamton area) We originally planned for around 10 people, which would support our price/prize structure for the drain plus additional prizes for the 2nd and 3rd.

We've never taken a profit on entrance fees, every tournament we've ever run the entry fee always go back in to the prizes to the tournament. This is true for our vintage events that we've been running for 9 years, our Arena League and our FNMs. We will even be giving away prizes for our upcoming free vintage events, which some of our players are REALLY excited about!

Here's a deal for you, Kl0wn, and only you! (We'll have you log on to TMD from one of our networked computers just so we can prove it's you), I'll pay your entry, including proxies, (Now don't be too harsh Smile) if you "rally kids from binghamton" and a few come up with you, ultimately the prize pool will be higher and I'll get to play some people from out side town instead of beating the scrubs at our store all the time... <J/K> Mr_Rogers a posting member here at TMD and one of the people who play at Area 51 on a regular basis got 173rd (last place) at the recent SSGs Rochester (Happy Birthday Buddy! Don't Kill me, just giving examples Smile). Dana who always plays rogue played the "Dominating Licid-Fish" deck.

I suck too... I got 169th at the recent SSG Rochester, so maybe you'll walk away with a mana drain after all!

I do appreciate your input, I see your point of view and in the future we'll take this in to account when we are promoting our next tournament!

Thanks!

Unfortunately I didn't see this until just now and doubly unfortunately, I've got a bad bronchial infection that hit me like a ton of bricks.

HOWEVER...

Your offer is interesting, to say the least. I'm not really that concerned with my own entry fee as I am with other people's, though. I'd much rather see a discount across the board than just get a free ride for myself. I'm not here for that, I'm here to support the community. But I do appreciate the offer.

I'll see what I can do for your next one. It'd be a good time to have regular tourneys relatively close, and I'm guessing your local players need some decent competition.

Aww, that sucks. I hope you feel better! I've suffered many bronchitis infections and I know how much of a pain they can be.

Concerning price drops accross the board, it will happen for the next tournament, which will be for a Bazaar of Baghdad in the near future.

If anyone does come up from Binghamton the Mana Drain tournament in the morning, let the TO at the counter know, we'll see if we can work somthing out Smile
