For a while now, I have started to run oath, and like it a lot better than the other decks that I have messed around with. One thing I did almost imediately was add black for demonic tutor, duress, and yawgmoths will. after cunning wish was thrown in, red seemed like a good choice, with it giving me rack and ruin and reb, which was used against control.

what I'm wondering is if this was a good move, or if anyone thinks that the red should be removed for mana consistency issues, or if the cunning wishes are viable in the first place. I've held off posting the decklist for a while, but its neccessary( i hate that word, can anyone hook me up with an effing spelling?). I am starting to think that there is enough disruption for control (scrying and duress, along with the others).

engine:5
4 oath of druids
1 gaeas blessing

creatures:2
1 akroma
1 spirit
1 mountain goat (fear foodchain)

draw:
3 intuition
4 AK's
4 brainstorm
1 demonic tutor
1 time walk
1 ancestral recal
1 vampiric tutor
1 cunning wish
1 yawmoths will-impulse

disruption:12
4 force of will
4 mana drain
4 duress

lands:18
4 forbidden orchard
2 flooded strand
2 polluted delta
3 island
3 wasteland
1 strip mine
2 underground sea
1 tropical island

power:6
1 black lotus
5 moxen

sideboard:
1 ancient hydra
1 pristine angel
1 platinum angel
1 naturalize
1 skeletal scrying
1 rushing river
1 misdirection
3 ground seal
3 arcane lab
2 energy flux
1 nicol bolas

i had an ss in the main, but I found that it just wasn't cutting it, and i already had 2 cunning wish main, so I should be good. could the red be removed to fit more stuff in concordant with the other colors. if I did that, it would look something like this:

-1 volcanic island
+1 underground sea

-2 rebs
+1 ground seal
+1 rushing river

-2 rack and ruin
+2 energy flux

I like the vamp tutor in the side, cause I can wish for it to find a missing
peice of something, or I could side it in against combo for additional beatings. I really don't have anything in the side for aggro, because oath(the card) is awsome against it on it's lonesome.

The last point that I am going to bring up is the number of cunning wishes. Is it plausible to remove one, as there is nothing super important in the side, and it does cost 3. but I do like it.

for future set speculations, does anyone think that pithing needle will make a good addition to the deck? It could replace ground seal, cover welder, bazaar, pentabus, slaver, and other such "good cards". it can also interupt cruci-waste locks, and disable phyrexian furnace, turns off claws of gix and spawnig pit, hits tog, belcher, and even auriok salvagers. but I'm not sure. thoughts?

woops, I lied, there is another thing: how many creatures is optimal in oath? I thought two was universally acceptable, but many people have started maindecking platz. is it worth it to slow down your clock potentially another turn for the protection of platz0R? I really didn't think that it was, but maybe someone could enlighten me on this.

are there any other suggestions? I want to know if its worth it to keep red or dump it. btw, my metagame would be considered extremely random, from powered control to atog tribal. also, does anyone know what that thing on the top of an "i" is called? that little dot? Sorry, english is not my forte(with a hat on the "e").

PS. I know that I copied this from starcity, but some people wont respond to that site. and for those of you that did not get it, the mountain goat was just a stupid attempt at being funny.

Unrestrict: Gush, Flash, Frantic search, fact or fiction (probably), and burning wish if it doesn't suck now.

this may be the last time you hear the boogie song.

The only good reason I see to play red is REB and you're not even running 4 of those.  Confused

It is spelled necessary.  Smile

It's mildly ironic that this post is in fact unnecessary. Next time, send a PM or just ignore it.

On the Cunning Wish part:

Why not go for Berserk or Fling (if you want to run red) in the Side if you are running MD Cunning Wish, it can end the game a turn earlier...

Also I feel running red is not really a good thing, since it screws around with your mana base, specially if you ar running wishes that can dig up answers to most situations if your SB is constructed well...

actually, I have come to the conclusion that I'm removing red for better mana consistencies. I edited the list at the top to let everyone see.

but will pithing needle hold a better position in the side than ground seal? seal is an enchantment and it cantrips, but needle is so broad. what thoughts do you guys have on it? I think that I wil take out some sb stuff to fit a playset.

also, there is one slot that i am uncertain of, its impulse versus yawgwill. yawgwill is perhaps the most broken card in t1, but in oath, everything shuffles back into your deck anyway, making it far less effective. on the upside, it is pretty much oath #5, intuition #4, blah blah blah, thus protecting oath even more. but impulse allows you to dig a lot farther in the deck for any given card, whether it be a land or a combo peice, and it also adds to the blue count, which is citical to keep high. any other suggestions on the list?
