Sphere of Resistance vs. Force of Will

With Sphere of Resistance in play does the alternate casting cost on Force cost 1 as well?

Short answer: With a SoR in play, Force of Will costs either 4UU, or 1 mana +1 blue card + 1 life.

Long answer: The only thing you pay for when using alternative casting costs (in this case removing a card and paying one life) is the cost in the upper right corner (in this case 3UU). After this any increases are taken into consideration (for example sphere of resistance), after which decreases are taken into the calculation. After that, the presence of a Trinisphere is checked for (which raises any payment below 3 mana to 3 mana).

In this case, removing a card and paying one life only takes care of the initial payment (3UU), additions need to be payed after that, so the sphere adds one mana to the cost.
