I kind of liked it without the life payment, because it was cleaner.

I preferred it that way too but there was pressure on to make it more Black and less White (despite the top down flavour) and I wasn't persuading anyone to keep it Black. I'd rather add the stereotypical Black life loss despite its overuse than make this White (if they make a BW guild I COULD see this as a 2 B/W B/W card, which reflects the dark side of rule-making - but that is another matter - IMHO it is important that a Black mage could cast this)

Bump and starting the clock. I would prefer to leave the life loss off but keeping this card Black is paramount.

I really think you should take off the lifeloss. Slapping lifeloss on a card like this (whose position in the color pie is otherwise ambiguous) is a real slapdash way of painting the word "black"on a card. If it were card drawing or regeneration or something else that's firmly established in a particular color it'd be a different story.

If you'd like a way to make it so that this doesn't end up being a permanent lockdown, you could also give it the ability, "Whenever a spell is countered by Never Void, remove a tedium counter from Never Void." (or "Whenever a spell is countered this way, remove a tedium counter from Never Void.")

To me, the possibility of a permanent lockdown is one on the major features of this card. To be fair, 'lockdown' wouldn't occur until at least four turns after you cast this, unless you were playing LD, in which case you shouldn't be using this anyway. Presumably this card would only be good if you have board advantage and keep in for that 4 (or more) turn period. Don't you tend to win such games anyway?
If you were thinking of accelerating out this Enchantment for an early lockdown: 1. There are much better options available - stuff that has an immediate effect 2. Your opponent is not affected at all on your turn or on theirs 3. It doesn't actually win you the game (barring concessions)
I could see this being used in a Nether Spirit/Pox deck but that is seriously casual.

I'm pretty sure this needs a new name, despite this one fitting rather well.

Is it bad to have a simple name that fits the function of the card?
You want spice? You want flavour from Dandan? You dare to provoke someone who suggests a card more powerful than Death Ward?
You asked for this.
Soul Bore
Mind Prison
Life less Living
Tedium
Bereft of Hope
Devoid
(I actually like some of those!)
Admit it, Devoid is a name Maro could have come up with.

Short, simple names really belong on short, simple effects. This is deserving of a much fancier name!

Distinct planes don't get fancy names. They get simple names, if elegant. Case in point: The Abyss.
That being said, it also needs a name that distinctly defines it as a specific place. And not just a small place like Prison, but a giant more worldly essence. A name like "tedium" won't cut it.
How about "The End of All Paths"? -Slay

Arboria Bazaar of Wonders Caverns of Despair Chaosphere Concordant Crossroads Elkin Lair Eye of Singularity Field of Dreams Forsaken Wastes Gravity Sphere Hall of Gemstone In the Eye of Chaos Koskun Falls Land’s Edge Living Plane Mystic Decree Nether Void Null Chamber Pillar Tombs of Aku Revelation Serra Aviary Storm World Teferi’s Realm The Abyss Tombstone Stairwell Winter’s Night
I don't think you can say that World Enchantments (planes) have short names. Most of them are average in length, and a couple are very long (In The Eye of Chaos and PIllar Tombs of Aku), and all are highly evocative. "Limbo" is just too generic. And anyway they already made [card]Purgatory[/card].

I actually never said that World Enchantments should be short. I said they should be simple. 90% of those names simply describe a place, if in a slightly poetic fashion. World Enchantments don't have to be fancy, and probably should just tell what the plane we're bringing the wizards to is about.
That being said, what about my name? -Slay

I kind of like Devoid as it describes the lack of creativity that this effect produces plus it has that 'void' feel to it.
Sometimes less is more.
Than again I kind of liked Limbo.

I'd rather Limbo because it sort of describes a place, even if that place is nowhere.

If you could make it like, "<someone's> Limbo", or "empty void of blah" it would be a lot more palatable.

I guess it would have to be Lim-Dul's Limbo as Kaervek is badly overused. It could be Nether Limbo although the two words don't seem to gel.
I kind of like Devoid of Pleasure

I am starting to see that aspect of Limbo too (wow, new card idea Aspect of Limbo, Enchanted creature gets +X/+X where X is the number of trees you limbo under).
Can I make this Devoid of Pleasure?

You jest, you jest but I doubt many of you have much experience of marriage. And you are tempting fate by asking for flavour text in a Dandan thread

Here's a cleaned up version of that nice flavour text idea: Submission is not when you lose the ability to resist, but rather when you lose the desire. Of course, by that token, this card never really causes you to submit, since I'm sure anybody locked down under this will desperately want to resist.

haha, you could always merge the flavor texts:
Submission is like marraige. It's not about losing the ability to resist, it's about losing the desire to try.
