Ok, big news if you live in the Midwest.

Normally, Dreamers has their power tournament on the second Sunday of the month and that is the single biggest monthly event.  But because Vintage is apparently growing so much here, another store, Monster Den has collaborated with the Dreamers store to set up the following plan:

Russ, the MonsterDen store owner has posted:
I am excited to say that the Den has teamed up with Dreamers on the Type 1 front. What does this mean to you, the player? Our tournaments will now be the Saturday before Dreamers and we will have the same price/proxy structure. We are also cross promoting in hopes of bringing more players into the format. The cost is $12.00 for no proxies and $13.00 if you use proxies, up to ten proxies. Yes that's right, 10 proxies. Monster Den is giving away a Library of Alexandria for first, Chaos Orb to second and third and forth get $25.00 store credit. I believe Dreamers first place prize is a Time Walk, WOW.
Monster Den Type 1 Saturday July 9th
Dreamers Type 1 Sunday July 10th
$12.00 no Proxies
$13.00 up to 10 Proxies
Also, they start at 1pm SHARP.

Some more quotes:

Jason, Dreamers owner has emailed:
From next month on I will be posting full decklists of the final 8, which will be collected before the final 8 starts each month, so for those of you who make final 8 this month, be prepared to write out your full deck list.

Starting in August, the cost will be 14$ for non proxy and 15$ for proxy up to 10. As always, I am open to suggestions on how to make the tournaments better and more fun, so please let me know what ideas you come up with.

Also, bring in someone who has not played in a type 1 at dreamers in this past year and both you and them can get in for 1/2 price.

Besides all of this goodness, Dreamers holds a "Tournament of Champions" (which I believe will be yearly now)  This tournament gives invites to all the players who made top 4 in any of the past year's power  tourneys plus to the 'second chance' tournament winner every month.  This 'second chance' tourney always starts after round 3 of the main and is free if you played in the big power event and dropped.  Usually, prize is store credit here, definitely something good.  This year's big prize is an Ancestral, next year's plans are for a Black Lotus.

So be there, you have no excuse.

When is the Tournament of Champions again?

Also, two tournaments on the same weekend will be tough for some of us with families.  If they were on different weekends, I'd gladly go to both.  Same weekend, though, and I'm pretty much sticking to Dreamer's.

Thanks for the info, though.

This year's Tournament of Champions is being held the day after this month's SCG P9 Chicago event.  Jason, at Dreamers, has a tight schedule apparently.  I believe this was the only available 'extra' weekend for Vintage.

I agree, it is difficult for people with families.  The warden here is sure to get upset at me being gone the ENTIRE weekend, meaning she has to watch the boy by herself all day long.

Oh well, time will prove this move to be successful or not.
