--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well Lunar usually posts the Berkely store's more than monthly TOURNEY FOR POWER ACTUAL POWER in Northern California, but he got pulled over by highly distinguished CHP officer after top-8ing again with some sort of Shop deck Allergic To Mana Drain Itis kinda deck whilst being handcuffed for apperently not playing CHALICE FOR ZERO AGAINST A BLACK LOTUS COMBO DECK when he had FIRST or SECOND TURN TINKER RRRRRRRRREEEEESSSSSSSSSOOOOOO
OLLLLLLLLVVVEEEEDDDD versus said Mana Drain Combo Deck (Gifts is the second such to get such distinction) only three weeks prior for a round five "neither of us is going to Top 8" kinda round.
Anyways. LotusHead here to tell you the tale of things gone by in the last 24 hours in the normally super hyper TMD approved (uh...and SCG approved) Metagame that is the microcumunity of Northern California.
Yes...lotsa drama going on around here, but this is the way things went down.
26 players or so showed up for A FRIKKIN ANCESTRAL RECALL tourney, but some key players were missing (I assume they have great excuses).
Christian Royers (Zahlfirim), probably getting laid for having a girlfriend that lets him pwn at Magic every now and then, presumably the West Coast affiliate of Team MeanDeck (50/50 win rate against LOTUSHEAD, Rogue Deckbuilder....hey, I get lucky. But I built my deck to get lucky....)
Louis Scot-Vargas, humble enough to have a hyphenated name. He loves his mammy and pappy. He also has come in 1st or split for 1st about half of said tourneys (starting with Oath decks...) He also made about Top 14 in London and gets to fly Air Concord to many Magic The Gathering Pro Sponserd Tourneys for months, or years to come. (yeah, four out of six games you beat me, but the other two games I PWNED YOU!!!!!!!!!!!) Congrats, and thanks for being a cereberal and topdeckluckymotherfucker player. You are T1.
David Ochoa, also in London (from what I heard, but I also heard you were present at the Eudemonia Tourney later that night. No cracks, no cheap shops (LotusHead vs David Ochoa: 4-0. Yeah, I'm that lucky. I'm still terrifiede shitless of playind against "Web")
Brent Peterson: Visual Spotting by LotusHead: Uh. I've never beat this guy. Not even him playing Sensei Sensei for the first time, or even UG Madness...I'lll never beat this guy. Fear him.
Anyways, the 26 man field (no women yet...) was at least HALF RANDOM CRAZY ASS MANY POWERED RANDOM T1 decks. Pretty cool. I believe a random Kobold deck made top 8)
Saving quickly so Lunar doesn't get a hernia flipping over his computer. This will be edited in the next 2-3 minutes....
Anyways, the Top 8 featured 8 different decks.
Control Slaver
Oath
Stacks
Kobold (I think...) (Okay, it was Dragon....I propably confused some round 5 Kobolds game for the top 8. my bad. Dragon, not Kobolds.)
Keeperish
LongDeath
U/R Fish (for [Censored] sake!)
MeandDeckish Gifts.
Anyways, all four games went 4 to 1
Top 4: Oath (Team Vacaville's Alex Block: Age 14, is balls haven't even dropped, but I taught him T1....)
U/R Fish (Josh Sherman...U/R fish...yeah...well, it worked enough)
Andreaj (my Hero, he owns an Alpha Black Lotus...)
Brian Wu: The Legend of Magic, playing Almost Meandeck Gifts. (He's very nice in person (TMD be damned)
Well, Brian and Andrej made it to top 2 and split the prize.
All good.
My experience...
Round 1:
Brian Wu with Meandeckish Gifts: He beat me 2-0. What can I say? Gifts Ungiven is hella broken (that's NorCal slang here...)
Round 2:
Uh...bye. Read my TMD Pearl Winning report to understand this round. (look under LOTUSHEAD on TMD)
Round 3: Uh. I won 2-1 against a Shop deckish New Yorker who maindecks Badlands. Fun, but I made equally terrible mistakes. His was on game 3, however....

)
Round 4: Nate: Fish. Null Rod. Wastelands. This is so 2004. It killed me though. [Censored] you for not making TOP 8. I coulda gone the distance...you scrubbed out round 5. We both ended up losers. And I gave you a TIME OF NEED! Where were you in my time of need, eh?
Round 5: COntrol Slaverish. Godhands for me, though it wouldn't put me in the finals.
For those that don't know me, I play Salvager decks. Oath Salvagers for now, but I do not net deck.
Lunar, fill in any missing details (like how awesome my custom PIMPED OUT MODIFIED BY LOTUSHEAD PYRITE SPELLBOMD donated to you was....)
Mull Till you get Gawd Hands, Pwn em till they cry.
well, 3-2 ain't terrible.
Edit : Apologies for some four letter words. Just trying to be entertaining. Will use restraint in the future....
