I played a local tourny this weekend and desided to reverb my old trix deck and see how it matched up. The meta-game was 2-workshop decks 1-foodchain 4-landstill (3-uw)(1-ur) 1-stupid replenish deck The only deck I lost to was food chains cause game 2 and 3 i parised down to 4. But heres the decklist let me know what you think 5 proxy tourny ARTIFACTS 1- black lotus 1-mox sapphire 1-mox jet 1-mox diamond 1-sol ring 1-mana vault 1-lotus petal (came in very handy alot of times for some reason???) BLACK 1-demonic tutor 1-vampiric tutor 3-dark ritual 4-duress 4-cabal therapy 1-yawgmoth bargain 1-yawgmoth will BLUE 1-ancestrall 1-time walk 3-illusions of grandeur 3-donate 4-FOW 4-brainstorm 1-frantic search WHITE 4-academy rector LAND 4-underground sea 4-tundra 2-scrubland 4-polluted delta 2-phrexian tower 1-tolarian academy SB 2-stifle 1-tinker 1-darksteal colossus 1-skeletal scrying 4-hydroblast 2-disenchant 2-coffin purge 2-abeyance The deck did retardly well well against the fish and landstill never lost a single game and the match was always done by turn 4-5 at the latest just my in-put and looking for feedback on this and any ideas that might help it out some. Cards i wanted to stay away from mana crypt cunning wish balance enlightened tutor(may have it's purpose but playtested and it seemed like a waste of time) grim monolith Just some of these were slow and the crypt didn't help at all for some reason I guess just wasn't ment for the deck but any in-put is appreciated

The tournament you described is eerily similar to the one I played in on Saturday, except there were 2 Landstill decks and a Gro deck. Seriously, there was a Replenish deck and the only deck Trix lost to was FCG. Anyway, this deck seems like it might have some surprise factor because everyone is expecting Gifts. Where are you located?

Weird. I'm in Utica. Anyway, regarding the deck, have you considered playing a second Rectorable enchantment like Form of the Dragon? It can really help when
a)Â Your opponent has loads of mana/creatures
b) When you are not holding Donate and you have already Bargained down to low life
also, how is this deck better than Rector-Tendrils?

Yeah I play at killino's whats ur name??? But the deck I think is more viable and set up fot the meta game. Just solid and hard to make mistakes with as where tendrils is very easy(for me anyways to do). But as for form maybe a possibility but thats why i run 3 and 3 as opposed to older styles running 2 and 2. As for the creatures didnt see alot the decks running heavy creatures usually go down by turn 1-3 no problem. The side board is awsome from no belief first turn illusions kill game 2 first turn tinker colossus and time walk game over!!!! coffin purge helps against crussible with wastelands and strips for a while. Stiffle cant donate wait a turn and stiffle the loose life ability and walla 20 free life. Abeyance for like mono blue fish standstill and especially seal of cleansing the turn your going off.

I'm Charley. I did overlook the 20 life gain. I looked on the Legacy forum and saw a Trix deck using Nightscape Familier and Diabolic Intent. What do you think of that in T1? Is this Grant? If so, there were not that many Landstill decks.

I played against your Crucible deck when Katroop (?) used it. He kept stripping my Volcanics and it took me a wicked long time to get red. He was angry when he lost. Did you win the tourney?

This list could be sweetened by doing such things as -4 Duress (12 forms of disruption for Trix is just way too much). Mystical Tutor should be put in, as it finds Donate / Ancestral / Time walk / Tinker post board. Dark Ritual numero 4-o, should be put in since you have a lack of moxes. With 2 card spaces left, a Necropotence and Form of the Dragon could fit in well, these are all just suggetsions from me to you, take them with a grain of salt.

I've seen another version of this deck which also runs the future sight/top combo as another win condition. Whether that's better or not, I'm not sure, but it is an option.

Although I agree that Rector trix is probably considerably stronger than people give it credit for I think your list is suboptimal in many ways.
I would make the following changes: -4 Duress (12 disruption is simply too much) -3 tundra (fetches) -1 donate (donate is always dead until you're ready to win. since at that point you have drawn like a billion cards you don't want 3) -2 phyrexian tower (the extra sac outlet is interesting but if you don't have a rector in play dropping this sets you back a turn)
+1 mystical tutor (can find you donate if you need it but also tons of other things don't forget that it can fetch therapy) +1 mind's desire (broken as all hell) +1 necropotence (some times you go turn one ritual necro with force backup...you win those games) +1 tendrils of agony (lets you win off desire) +1 Dark Ritual (not playing 4 is inexcusable in rector trix. your game plan involves casting things that cost 4 mana by the end of turn 2) +1 Scrubland (this deck would ideally have black on turn one than blue) +3 flooded strand (deck thinning, reduce exposure to wasteland) +1 mana crypt (you need to get 4 mana by turn 2 and 7 mana by turn 3 this card is fantastic for things like turn one rector)
good luck with the deck. I'd put a form of the dragon in the side. it's pretty solid against alot of things like any aggro deck. i'd also swap the disenchants for seal of clensing because you can rector it out in a pinch.

I've been playing this deck for about a year. Purple Hat knows what he's talking about. Around half the time playing the deck, I killed with the lone tendrils. It was pretty sweet. I have yet to test desire, despite its recommendation months ago. It looks solid and will be unexpected.
