Recently I have been testing with Oath vs. several decks, when I ran into an opponent playing a workshop/affinity build that had skullclamps in the maindeck, and he was able to use my orchard tokens against me netting him two cards everytime I used an orchard. Skullclamp would seem like really good tech against oath in almost any deck and might give some decks the gas they need to race Oath, as well as helping some control decks gain card advantage that Oath might not be able to overcome. It comes down on the first turn before they set up their counter wall as well. This seems like some really good tech to me and testing has shown it to be very effective, any thoughts?

Equipping is sorcery speed and Orchard can tap at instant speed. Therefore, it won't stop them from Oathing.

Okay, good point tech is lousy, although it does give you the gas to race oath in certain decks. Maybe it would be useful in the Oath mirror?

Claws of Gix would be so much better.

actually it's fairly good given a few things.
1) that it's not combo oath so you will get at least one more trun after they oath
2) that you can use the extra cards to combo out in some fashion.
i had some success with cerebral assassin doing this because i could use the extra cards + my bazzars to draw enough cards to go off with my alternate dragon kill. i could see a certian comboish deck being able to do the same.... as long it's not combo oath.

An affinity-style deck is going to have creatures anyway, so unless you want to sacrifice your entire team to Spawning Pit, Skullclamp makes better use of the Orchard tokens. As Lord of the Goats pointed out, it's fine as long as you can combo out before the Oath player kills you. My buddy runs/ran a similar deck, and it can indeed combo off, with Ravager + Triskelion, so it's fine here, although it's not exactly "tech" against Oath, since it's just part of the main deck.

Of the 4 useable creature sacrifice cards:
1. Spawning Pit 2. Claws of Gix 3. Goblin Bombardment 4. Skullclamp
Skullclamp was least used as tech. Mostly because good Oath players gave you tokens at your end phase, allowing them to Oath on thier upkeep. The other 3 they could sac the token right away, thus preventing you from Oathing.
But when I do go up against Affinity/ Ravager/ Kobold-Clamp decks I always counter the Clamps, because opponent drawing cards is a bad thing! And Ravager can easily race you.
And in the mirror, I always found getting to your Orchards and Wastelands first was the best method of winning.
