Hey, does anyone play vintage in the HOUSTON area??? I have several people interested in gaming, but would like more to get a decent tournament going. We allow unlimited proxy's on basic land cards as long as they are readable, so you can play any deck you please. If you are interested go ahead and post please and I will get back to you shortly. thanks

Yo Mike, looks like your thread is kinda dull. I guess you and I are the only people who play real magic in Houston.
We can do any proxy level for tournaments. It doesn't really matter. I just want to play some damn type 1.
Kevin, hi, my name is Adam. If you want to sling some cards and are in the area, drop me a line. I think all my info is in my profile.

Ok fellas!
I'll be rollin' into the Lone Star State the first week of November. Things will be hectic for me at first, but I'll be itchin' for a game before you can say "Giddyup!"
Where should I go to play in San Antonio? Vintage/Legacy/FNM/draft/casual... I'll probably take anything.

hmm, im not too sure about the scene in San Antone. I think they have the Alamo there or something. Too bad you arent going to Houston though, the Type 1 scene really needs a kick in the ass to get it going and believe me I have tried (hence the orignal post). I will try to go back to Chicago one of these days for another SSG tourny, but thats a looong way to travel to play some magic.

The best place to play in San Antonio is in the car on the way up to Austin.

LOL I'll keep that in mind. Sounds like the scene in SA could use a good kick in the ass as well... I'll get right on that.

I know quite a few people who would be interested in playing T1 down here in Houston.

Houston is moldy.  I went to SA with my wife for a convention and went looking for a scene to play. The only thing I found was a card shop that took up 1/12 of an old toys r us (or something) where netdecking and power weren't allowed, and a chain of shops that really only pushed yu-gi-oh. How is Houston moldy when thats all San Antone has for the wandering mage?

I used to play a bit at Texas State (San Marcos) at the dorms, but that was all casual. There were also two local shops, one held a weekly booster draft but...*sigh*...it went out of business. There are still two excellent shops in San Marcos (my hometown BTW) and Austin is the hub of counter-culture in the state of Texas so if you can't find some magic in Austin, you just aren't looking. I'd estimate 80% of my magic in Texas occurred either on college campus or in the dorms of college students, so if you want magic just find the college kids that have glasses and deep pockets. Okay, that wasn't specific to the state at all. Lordy lordy, what am I rambling about.

The problem with San Antonio is getting the seriously casual Vintage and Legacy players organized enough to show up at an event. No one is willing to take a chance on a tournament so that we have somewhere play. I only said Houston is moldy because it's so humid.
