I'd like to congratulate ReAnimator as the winner of 3CB Tournament #65!
Massive tournament this time - good stuff everyone! A "Slow and Boring" deck wins it, although it's particularly tight in the middle, here: 9 decks are within 8 points of each other!

Well, what can I say - incredible turnout! Sorry for the slight delay - not used to a 20-deck tournament, especially when my computer has been very sick with a virus and has only just recovered.

And yes, the Unhinged comment was for Form of the Squirrel. It might be possible to break it more, but I don't want to know, frankly. Very Happy

Sorry to both Ephraim and Moonkeeper - still, it's a mistake you only make once. Smile

Adam

EDIT: Scrappy Kid is right; result changed.

Correct! Hence my choice of Scalding Tongs...

Also, after a cursory glance at Ravnica it looks fairly harmless, but please post any queries/thoughts about particular cards.

Well its nice to know that after missing 2 3cb's in a row i could come back to take this one.  Very Happy

I've noticed a trend with these tournaments, if a leveler/eater/dreadnought deck wins, usually an energy field deck wins the very next tourney. I don't exactly know why, but I guess my hunch payed off.

I notice that no one ran pithing needle this time. Does the  existence of needle make the MM storage lands obsolete? and if so does the 1 extra turn of speed you loose from using the FE ones matter in any important matchups?

I think that in theory, Needle would obsolete them - but in practice, since they're the only widely-played card (i.e. fits into more than one deck) that Needle really deals with, it doesn't cost much to use the MM lands instead for the added flexibility.

As for your hunch, I think you're right - everyone concerns themselves with beating the fastest decks, which normally depend on a creature to win it for them rather than an enchantment and an indestructible artifact.

3.   Discozombie    -    Little Green Men    -    Rushwood Grove,   Verdant Force,   Rushwood Grove
4.   Scrappy Kid    -    Skies    -    Mox Sapphire,   Mishra's Factory,   Spiketail Hatchling

I think this should be 3-3 not 6-0

If I'm playing I win as follows:

T1: I drop Hatchling, he plays land
T2: I attack (17), he plays second land (1 counter)
T3: I attack (14), ha taps both land (3 counters)
T4: Attack (11), 5 Counters
T5: Attack (8), 7 Counters
T6: Attack (5) 9 Counters
T7: Attack (2) he resolves Verdant Force
T8: Attack with Spiketail Hatchling (1), he attacks for some number less than 20
T9 Attack with Spiketail (0)

When he plays he drops Verdant Force on 5 life and wins.
