Mana Feeder
{1}{U}
Creature — Leech
1/1

{1}{U}{U}, {T}: Return target artifact or enchantment to its owner's hand. Put a +1/+1 counter on Mana Feeder.

My goal here was to create a creature that could be used to bounce artifacts or enchantments. It's been seen before on Stern Proctor, but generally, it's relatively pristine. Nonetheless, I didn't want it to do just that. When I thought about the flavour of such a creature, I imagined several mechanisms by which a creature could bounce an artifact or enchantment. The one I liked the most was a creature that fed off the magical energy empowering artifacts and enchantments. That suggested, then, that the creature ought to grow as it eats more enchantments. If the cost of the activated ability seems unusually high, it's because I worried about giving blue too cheap of an ability that lets it grow a creature. It even concerns me now that for {2}{U}{U} a turn, this can use a 1-cc artifact to grow. I was really afraid that if I made this too inexpensive, somebody would combo it with Flight of Fancy or something. For the record, I realize that I have made the bounce part of the effect, rather than part of the cost. That is just as I intended this to be.

Current Wording:

Mana Feeder
{1}{U}
Creature — Leech
1/1

{1}{U}{U}, {T}: Return target artifact or enchantment to its owner's hand. Put a +1/+1 counter on Mana Feeder.

Did you know that Red is the color or art and music and passion? Combine that with Green, the color of nature, spiritualism, and community and you get a hippie commune of drum circles, dreamcatchers, and recreational drug use. Let's see that win a Pro Tour.

I don't believe costs can target.  Also, making the bounce part of the cost and not allowing your opponent to respond to it is very iffy.  I'd word it something like 1UU, T: Return target artifact or enchantment to its owner's hand.  If you do, put a +1/+1 counter on ~this~.

EDIT: Ignore the above.  I can't read Sad.

That's basically what this does anyway. There really isn't any difference that I can readily see. With either one, if something happens to the enchantment before the effect resolves, then the ability is countered upon resolution for lack of target.

is getting a +1/+1 counter for bouncing a permenant a blue ability?  I'm not sure.  It feels green, but then there are examples of cards in other colors that get counters for stuff like this.  Just something to think about.

I like the card overall.  I don't think it really needs any changes.
