So, let me get this straight:

Denver has legalized small amounts of marijuana, however, they're still arresting people for possessing it, and fining them because state law still views it as illegal?

Something seems ...not right... here.

Granted, I don't understand anything about our legalities and civil government,

But any way you look at it, that's pretty screwed up.

i find it quite humorous.  Obviously Federal and State law take precidence over municipal, so denver could make it legal to walk around with a dime bag and people would still get busted. Cops around here in London dont really do anything about it.  I have had my joint taken away and my dime bags taken away, but i dont even get a ticket because it's too much effort for them to write it up.  I usually get the "do it on your own property" speech. Prohibitors are on the loosing end of the war.  It will just end up being the same as booze.  I can imagine our grandkids laughing about the time when pot was illegal.

I was completely unaware this was on the ballot or I probably would have bothered to get off my ass and vote.  I was totally stoked when I heard it passed though.  True, it doesnt actually do anything, but the point is that the peoples voices are being heard and eventually some real reform will go down.

yeah you still get in trouble for it, but it makes it more like a speeding ticket now.

Well the best news though is that local PD wont hassle you too much anymore..unless they are dicks, heh...

In California weve had medicinal for awhile and it goes over pretty well, the feds dont generally get involved unless it is just obviously not for medicinal uses.  But on a similar page as Denver, Mendocino County here in California (its the county just below Humboldt county) has legalized Marijuana for a few years now...woot. Not that the cops up in Northern California do much about it anyways...A few years back on 4/20 I was hanging out with some friends at Hunboldt state and we went out to Redwood park and were blazing with about 400 other people...the TWO cops at the event were just walking around making sure people werent being stupid and one of the cops had a highway 420 sticker on his Ticket Book, heh..

But congrats to Denver for getting the nation one city closer to being not completely ignorant.
