Well I haven't been to the mana drain in ages.  So long infact I cant remember the old handle I used.  Do know it looked completely different back then... must be like 3 yrs or something... anyhow my dilemma.

I no longer know ANYONE who plays MTG.  Atleast not the MTG i miss playing.  You know, 5 people huddled around a table in someones kitchen, playing with the deck they made this week to combat last weeks winning deck.  Drinking beer, listening to music, trading some cards, throwing life counters, have fun.

MTG seems to have gotten to serious in the t2 enviroment.  I've been to some local stores trying to find players like I was used to playing with, but they all do tourneys.. only tourneys.  T1 magic?  WTF is that they say.  Dual lands and lotus? huh?  You know the hippy? hypnotic what(course that has changed now with them rereleasing him).

I miss playing what I have dubbed..  casual hardcore magic.  Meaning casual mentality, with tourney level decks.  More t1 or extrended.

Anyhow the total dilemma is whether to sell my cards?  I haven't played MTG in probably 3yrs now, or nothing more then a few average decks thrown together to try and get some people into magic.  I never did complete the p9, but I do have stuff like an unlimited lotus, 40 dual lands, 4 english mana drains, library, workshop, old staples.

I think I could get atleast 2k for my collection as it defiantly above 4-5k but how far I don't know, as I have never actually sat down and priced everything.  I never traded stuff away.  I had the $$ at the time to buy whatever I wanted.  Figured no point in trading most stuff as, at some point I would want it again.  I started playing right after revised came out, and played pretty steady till urza's, then was off and on till mirrodin.

What would you do?  Think.. you havent played in 3 yrs, and know NO ONE who currently plays.  The "idea" of playing old magic might be what I'm holding onto, I don't know.

I know a lot of people are going to h8 on me for saying this, but I honestly see vintage on a serious decline.  Prices are sloping down for many reasons (the two biggest I can think of being WoW and Legacy pulling people away) and I don't think they're going to come back any time soon.

I already sold my drains/power/library/bazaars, and every time I think about it, I'm pleased.

Cash out while your cash is worth something.

I somewhat agree ...
I've been considering cashing out for awhile ...

A lot of local players have just quit cold turkey, but the prices on ebay seem to be pretty constant besides the Black Lotus ...

For the past 2 years prices have dipped in the winter and last year it went back up again in spring/summer.  However, Lotus is not dipping and may either stay the same or go up when/if the rest go up again.

If you're going to sell, do it in spring or early summer.

Here's a pretty good site to keep a watch on the prices on ebay ...

Unless you're in dire need of cash, I would suggest you look around for other players for a bit before you do anything drastic.  There are plenty of casual scenes out there, but once you sell the cards you can't get back in very easily.

Yea, don't be a complete dumbass like me, don't sell out unless you need the money really bad.  If any, just sell enough so that you can easily play with just 10 proxies.

I sold and I dont regret it. I still play ten proxy here and there, sometimes with borrowed cards and sometimes with the junk that fills the backlot of combo, but its not really a big deal.

I guess unless you are devoted and this game is some serious part of your life, you are the kind of person who will need to get the cards again, or you have no viable use for the money, go ahead and sell. eBay is a buyer's market for this stuff though, dont be upset when some of your moxes go for less than 300...

unless you need the money, i don't see any reason to sell out. i don't anticipate that power prices will drop so significantly that you can/will make a quick buck when you decide to jump right back in. sure, vintage is on a slight delcline, but legacy's time is relegated to just a single month, and i can't see too much more WOTC support unless lille does outstanding.

what im doing right now is selling all of the things i dont really need, like the drains and 2 shops on  ebay right now. i kind of figured i would just play the deck i have forever and make any changes to it if i feel like it. since i foiled it out, i really dont feel like playing anything else anyways. just to note it is the same ebay name as this one, if anyone cares.

This isn't going to sound very sane, but actually having to start off again after selling isn't that bad. If you sell it now, you will probabilly get your cards' full worth, and if you find a casual group, you'll find that having to start off again "with the lowlies" is fun and keeps the "casual field" even.

I see what your saying, it's one of those hard decisions.  I havent even played magic in probably 2 yrs.  But on the other hand... selling out feels wrong.  As far as prices going back up in spring/summer it seems like they have always done that, atleast for the past couple years, As I have been debating this for maybe 3 yrs now.

Think I'll end up keeping my cards. Who knows.

How is the everyday new magic screne around the country?  Magic on the decline in whole? or t2 and whatever the new formats are holding people?  Or is it still holding steady?
