Hey everyone.

I have a bunch of Vintage events running at TempleCon 2006 taking place at the Providence, Rhode Island Holiday Inn coming up this January 27th through the 29th.   I hope some of you will be able to attend.     We have 4 Vintage events scheduled right now, and I'm planning on adding at least two more sanctioned vintage events to that number by the end of the year.     There are also a lot of other Magic events that I'm running that weekend, including some standard stuff and a few wilder formats.    The vintage events at the con are not going to be allowing proxies, with the possible exception of one or two events that I'll update this thread with later.

Check out the TempleCon website at http://www.templecon.com/ for more information on the weekend, registration, directions,  and to see what else is going on.    If anyone has any other questions, feel free to drop me a line at thewhitecrow@speakeasy.net.      There is also a ton of food/entertainment within walking distance in the area, and plenty of hotel parking.

Hope to see some of you there!

You've picked the same weekend as Waterbury, which means you won't be getting many people to come out, esp. since your events aren't allowing the proxies.  You might want to reschedule.

For the Vintage events is there any kind of prize structure?

Oh, it's a convention?  All I really looked at was the date and place and noticed a large conflict.  The other details seemed irrelevant.

Yeah, unfortunately we've had the date set since this time last year since space has to obviously be booked well in advance with the hotel, and it was rather difficult to make sure we didn't conflict with any large area conventions if possible.    We also have a lot of dealers and guest artists locked in for the weekend, so rescheduling obviously isn't possible, as much as I would love to make the Waterbury event myself.    There is always Friday at TempleCon for those looking to head to Waterbury, as well.    In fact, I'll do what I can to make sure as much of the Vintage stuff is scheduled to run on Friday as possible if anyone is interested.

All the Magic events are trophy winning events at the con, and we're actually discussing some options to provide some prize support beyond that for the sanctioned Vintage stuff at the moment, which I'll fill you guys in on as I find out about it.    We're expecting a large turnout, so it should be a pretty solid weekend.

I'd definately stop by on that Friday before I take off to Waterbury.

So, do you mean you actually win a trophy? That's pretty cool.

Yeah, we decided to spring for actual engraved trophies for most of the bigger events, and even for many of the smaller ones.     This is because we noticed that many cons tended to give out those crappy paper certificates as prizes, which in my opinion is just lame.     We figured it be worth the cost, simply because I can't bring myself to hand out dumb printed pieces of paper to winners at the awards ceremony at the end of the weekend.

I'm working on drumming up some additional prize support too.

I wanted to make a quick update letting people know that artists Cyril Van Der Haegen and Dave Seeley are now both confirmed to be on hand for the convention.     Both will be in the art room signing cards and selling their pieces.

If I am even debating playing sanctioned vintage during the time I would normally be driving to waterbury or already there enjoying a brew and a sauna, I would like to know what kind of prize structure we are getting at these events.

also, that link does not say how much the tourney costs to enter or what time they start. these are details one normally posts on a tournament announcement.  thank you.

BTW, I am specifically referring to the friday events, which will most likely have your highest turnout.

I just wanted to give a quick update here as to the status of our Vintage events a TempleCon.

We have decided to not sanction them due to popular demand, so 10 proxies will be allowed in any non-sanctioned T1 event at TempleCon.

Entry fee to the convention at the door is $15 for one day, or $35 for the entire weekend.    Tournament tickets during the weekend can be purchased for $3.     Prize support is engraved trophies for first place finalists in tournaments, and in some cases other prize support will be fronted by the people running the specific event.    Event times and information can be found on our schedule here:

http://www.templecon.com/offered.html

Hope to see some of you there.

Curious, how did attendance fare here? Waterbury seemed a tad lacking, so I figured this leaked a few over.
