So I want to ship some carboard crack across the border. Is there any best way to get high priced cards from US to Can without getting dinged for duty? I am looking at approx $825 US in cards. I would like to insure them, but doesnt that have to show the true value of the package and therefore cause me to be charged duty? Do any Canadians on here have any advice on how they get their cards across?

Canadian customs are really strange. Sometimes they nail you sometimes they don't. I once had 2 drains shipped to me via registered mail, with full value declared (155 USD) on the bubble mailer, and didn't get charged a dime for it. However, the singular occasion where I had to pay duty was on a foil necropotence!? worth a grand total of $7.
If you want it to get there safely you can either use registered mail, FedEx is another option as well. Both are pricey but allow you to request signatures indicating safe and timely delivery.

Ive used UPS several times for shipping to several other countries, and I havnt had any complaints about duties and timing with them. (This is shipping to Canada, Latvia, France, and Brazil)
The costs are higher by several dollars than the standard traders rate of .60 for first class mail in a (for example, it ran me 8.67 to ship a mana drain + 15 other small throw ins in bubble wrap with insurance and signature acceptance, for the amount of cards I figured it was worth it, and I have never been let down) But I think the service is pretty top notch...

hahah I was honestly going to type this ... Generally if you just shipped registered from Canada to US and not put any price on it, then it won't get hit by customs ... |

UPS might be alright for cards but they are satan incarnate for any parcels. I've taken it in the brown by them a couple times, and so have people I know. Their usual gig includes nailing you for a $30.00 brokerage fee just to get the parcel across the border. And then there is duty on top of that charge, and if you disagree with paying the brokerage fee they won't release your package. I have been nothing but displeased with UPS, and their parcel services.

I havnt shipping anything large via UPS..so no experience there...I work currently for radio shack though and we USED to use UPS which was excellent for us for normal shipping, NOW we use FedEx and I curse them on an almost daily basis. The service is bad and the packages are almost always late/missing...

I'm having the same dilemma. (Westen Canada)
Do you have an american credit card? I've had problems ordering from american dealers because my mastercard is a canadian bank one.Â
Also, are there any reputable canadian dealers on the net? Seems like slim pickins to me, thus we most often go to StarCity.

hmmm, I thought all mastercards were linked to the same system and thus shouldnt have a problem.
At the Radio SHack I work at we are right next to a major Intel plant and not far from AeroJet and HP so we get a lot of techies from all over the world with the most bizaare credit cards ive ever seen. I am yet to have any difficulties with running one exactly the same way I do a regular ol USA credit card.
Maybe RS is just on a good system and the card dealers arent. (maybe they just dont want to pay any extra fees to MC or Visa to do the out of country ones...remember that is ISNT free for businesses to ring you up when you use credit or debit.)

Putting credit cards through in person is one thing, but doing it over the internet seems to be something else entirely. I've found (living in NZ as I do) that buying cards from a US card shop for the first time requires a verification process where they take some small amount off my credit card and then I have to email them back how much they charged. Apparently fraud is a big issue with foreign cards (and I use a Mastercard, btw). |

For example, Anycraze gave me the shaft because my MC was Canadian. the rep told me they won't accept any non-american cards.
