I am of the opinion, and have been for quite some time that you either:

1. Play a deck that utalizes and breaks the power of Moxes, or attempts to inhibit the power of Mox abusing decks.

i.e. Yawgmoth's Will based decks v. Prision and Fish style decks.

2.  You are either playing a Mana Drain deck or a deck designed to play around Mana Drain.

i.e. A Mana Drain fueled engine, or, a deck that plays Aether Vial, Disruption (Duress, Xantid Swarm), or, cards that make it difficult for your opponent to cast Mana Drain (Spheres, Tangle Wires, and Wasteland.)

Either way, it would appear that Mana Drain is the format defining card in the sense that when people design a new deck they have to consider:  "Can my deck play around turn two Mana Drain, Can my deck avoid being Mana Drained on turn two, and/or, can my deck recover from being Mana Drained.  If all answers are no, it is more than likely that said deck is probably not viable.
