Yeah, but how much money back?!?Here is what I found on that Paypal page: Amount of Coverage. If your PayPal Buyer Protection claim is granted, PayPal will reimburse you for losses up to the amount shown below. Your reimbursement will be paid in the currency of the original PayPal payment, up to the maximum payout listed in the table below: I'm telling you from experience... I lost $270 and I was paid back $175. Another time I lost $110 and I was paid back $75. Both times were from fraudulent sellers and all requirements were met for me to be "covered". I think that is where Paypal gets shifty. You are "covered" but how much do you REALLY get back? |

that payout system only happens if the seller does not meet all of the requirements. I know about what you are saying. once i bought a mox pearl from someone with 30 feedback and paid 220 for it. i didnt receive it and when i filed a claim with paypal i got back 175 just like you. but another time i bought 2 boxes of champions of kamigawa from someone with around 200 feedback and did not get them. however because of his feedback and other criteria i got all of my money back, because the transaction was covered completely under paypal's buyer protection.
as long as it is under $1000 and the seller meets all of the criteria listed on that page, you WILL get all of the money back.
I know from experience.
most of the time though many sellers do not meet all of those conditions which is why the scam works in their favor.

I can't seem to find a place on Paypal's site where they clearly state what the REAL coverage is. As in, how much to get how much back. In my case, the guy who ripped off $270 had like 13 feedback, and the guy who ripped off like $110 had like 46. It would be REALLY nice to understand exactly what the coverage is, so when I see a good deal from a questionable buyer I had more confidence.

Paypal is very shady. They intentionally try to make it as difficult as possible for you to resolve any disputes with them. Basically every dollar you allow them access to is a dollar at serious risk, and they are not the least bit trustworthy. They've already had to settle one class-action lawsuit for fraud, and they violate the terms of that settlement when they can get away with it. http://www.paypalsucks.com/ |

Just found out from Paypal. "To be eligible for reimbursement, item must be delivered with online SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION."
Is there anyway to turn off "accept credit card payments?" There used to be, and now there isn't one. I'm guessing that most scams these days involve a person paying by credit card and then dispuing the charge 2 months down the line.Â
I just got a $1200 chargeback that is currently pending. I have tracking, and even a receipt from PSA that the card was authentic. This thread still has me worried.Â
Time to go back to money orders.

I got a refund from the guy today. In all I lost $25. $5 for shipping, 10 paypal fees transferring money to him, and $10 transferring back to me. Oh well-I'll take it.

Well, those deals DO happen every once in awhile.
I picked up my NM Unlimited Ancestral Recall for $350, and my Very Fine Unlimited Time Walk for $240 on Ebay. I was pretty stoked at those prices. That's when the recall was going for $600 and Walk was $500.
But I took MANY precautions to make sure I was not getting ripped off. Generally, yeah avoid it.

FYI, if he used paypal's "refund money" feature, you would lose $0 in fees on both sides. |
