And I could say the same thing about rap, how they are just a bunch of people talking over a dull beat that repeats over and over with no variation. And by saying that, I could be SO wrong. I don't like rap and hip-hop because the music doesn't appeal to me. But I will never bash on that in a forum where different tastes are to be expected.

Two of 50 Cent's latest songs use the exact same beat.  The exact same.  While I can expect someone else's tastes to be different from mine (apparently this 50 Cent fellow has a decently sized following), I find it hard to justify that level of laziness.  It's not the beats in general, since it's known that I listen to a lot of techno.

For reference: Candy Shop / Just A Lil' Bit.

I will break into your house while you aren't home and disguise myself as a chair. Then I will leave before you get home, but there will be a place at your table where I was a chair and you will wonder why there isn't a chair there. Then later I will leave the chair disguise on your doorstep and you will realize what has happened and you will be afraid all the time. Helter Skelter mother fuckers!

50 is god awful

I've rediscovered Wu-Tang in the past couple of weeks, and Illmatic never leaves my Ipod. Keeping in genera, does anyone else like Nappy Roots?
Besides that, I'm currently on a bit of a Sublime + Jimmy Buffet kick because winter is depressing and I just got back from the Caribbean a few weeks ago.

To each is own and all, but I'm surprised how many people actually enjoy what I term "sk8ter pop punk" and Metal on these boards. I thought that stuff died out once you hit College/in the 80's.

That's because plebes like stuff that they know. Example: take some really good techno and go to a normal dance club. Put it on and watch people leave the floor. Put hiphop on and watch them come back. Most people are self-conscious when they are dancing to some extent or another, so they want to dance to something they've heard a billion times before. 50 markets a crappy product that people are comfortable with because he doesn't deviate or explore very much.

Now listen to some good rap and you'll find a gulf of difference.

EDIT: I realized I already mentioned the patton hip hop album......oops!
I have been downloading more music lately and have really gotten into Franz Ferdinand.  Thier songs have great beats and riffs.

Guess we like the same sort of music then. All the artists you named are on my playlists. Recently I've been listening to some Kanye West as well, he just gets better and better. My favorite song definitely is Jesus Walks though.

On the Metal thing: The instrumental ones are allright. Not my style, but I don't hate it. When people start to roar over it I start to hate it. I really can't stand it.
