Unlike the "cover song" thread, this is a place to post your absolute favorite freaking song ever recorded.

The rules:

* This isn't about your sense of the "objective best song" (personally, I think that distinction falls on McCartney's "Yesterday"); it's about the song that most resonates with you.

* Try to pick just one song, it's a more interesting exercise than listing a bunch of stuff you like. But do what you have to do.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=

I've mulled it over and will go with:

"Let Down" by Radiohead

or

"Gold Day" by Sparklehorse

You?

Hey Hey by October Fall

Then Again by aphasia

or

The Ruins that We Hold by My American Heart

all 3 bands are VERY good friends of mine, aphasia especially, so it's REALLY hard to chose.

It changes every few months, but it's probably Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve.

November Rain by Guns n' Roses. I even had parts of its intro and the first solo as my wedding march. Some hymns have also really impressed me.

It's a tossup between:

Slapshot - Sixteen Valve Hate

and

Tool - Pushit

While there's a lot of great, great music out there, and I probably wouldn't mention either of these if this was a simehow objectively best songs thread, these two songs have meant more to me than any others.

The Box by Orbital
Logged

No room in the house exceeds a length of twenty-five feet, let alone fifty feet, let alone fifty-six and a half feet, and yet Chad and Daisy's voices are echoing, each call responding with an entirely separate answer. In the living room, Navidson discovers the echoes emanating from a dark, doorless hallway which has appeared out of nowhere in the west wall.

Eh, it's hard to pick just one, so I'll list a few that are the "candidates."

Dream Theater - A Change of Seasons
Angela - The End of the World
Rie Tanaka - Mizu no Akashi & Fields of Hope
