It's always annoying to see all these PowerNine tournaments and such taking place regularly in the US, but not here in the UK. I can understand that Magic kicked off in the US, but the world is gripped in Magic fever and a bit of balance would be appreciated.

I don't want to detract from those players developing the format and winning power, it's just that myself and the rest of the gaming community here in the North-East of England don't get close to chances like that.

My question is thusly: Is Vintage Magic isolated in the US, or has it spread further afield?

If anyone knows of any opportunities to join in with the Vintage crowd over here in the UK, it would be of great assistance.

Keep up the good work, and congrats to Jacob Riehm for winning a Lotus at Chicago with a very amusing deck!

I'm not sure how things are in England, but at the other side of the canal (Holland) there are Vintage tournaments. Most tournaments don't give you the chance to win power (sometimes the prize contains semi-power), but even without that competing is nice.

Wow, thanks, I didnt expect to be mentioned in this thread. I believe Italy and Spain also have regular events as well and this past year the French Vintage championships had one of the most insane payouts ever...Beta power 9 to the top 8 and (correct me if I am wrong) Unlimited power 9 to the unpowered top 8.

well I know north of the boarder Ontario has really become a vintage hotspot with each weekend almost offering up a different tournament.
But yes the Us is still the hot spot for vintage magic with the Europeans keeping up but less since they prefer no proxies environments

Vintage is not huge all over the U.S.

I live next to Portland, Oregon.  We do have vintage tournaments every once in awhile around here, but it's usually at least a 3 hour drive away.  In Seattle, Washington or some random spot in southern Oregon.  I was able to get a small bi-weekly vintage tournament going at a local store here for a few months.  $5 entry, prize was store credit.  That died out after a few months though.

I think Vintage is much stronger in the Eastern USA.  In some places in California too.  I'm more then happy to attend the power tournaments we do have though, and thankfull for them.  40+ people would be a big turnout for a power tournament here in the Northwest.

Truth be told, there ARE lots of Magic players around here.  But I think they are scared/intimidated away from Vintage.  The format is too big, the players/cards are all older, and it takes a whole different level of skill then new sets.
