Hi, I am trying to get back into vintage and magic in general. I played a lot of 5 or 6 years ago but sold my all cards due to lack of money. Now that my situation is better I figured I'd give the game a try again and this forum seems to be a good place to start, seeing as how bdominia is long gone... I have a few questions;

What do people use to play online, is apprentice still okay?
How come I get banned when I try to join the mirc channel?Sad
Where can I find a good list or post of what is currently considered to be "good" decks?

Thanks in advance! Glad to be a part of the forum.

Try this link to an article on Star City Games:

http://www.starcitygames.com/php/news/article/10959.html

The author breaks down what types of decks have been successful in the format for the Fall of 2005.  You can click on the deck types and also search their deck and article database to find information on what the decks are and how they work.

If you're looking to play online tournaments, either Magic-League.com or O-Gaming.com have online leagues with regular tournaments.  Magic-League is a far larger league, and thus you will obviously see far more Vintage tournaments there, if that's exclusively what you're looking for.  Platforms used include Apprentice and Magic Workstation.

You can find Magic-League on irc.solidirc.com (#magic-league) and O-Gaming on the Efnet server (#o-gaming).  Welcome back to Magic.

A great place to look for decklists of good decks is the "Tournement Results Forum"  Look for things like "Top8 Deck lists/Results at [insert cardshop or city name here]"   Take a look at the decks, look up all the cards, build it in App or MWS, and play a few solo hands.   This will also give you an Idea of the the metagame in your area and around the world.

Happy Deck hunting and GL.

One question about the irc channel-  whenever I try to join it I get instantly banned, am I missing something here? Smile
And those tournament result decks, along with the star city article gave me a good idea of what people play now.
