http://www.starcitygames.com/php/news/article/11509.htmlBy his own admission, the Meandeck Labs have seemed quiet of late. Of course, this perceived lull is little more than the calm before the storm. Stephen tells us of some major developments in the Vintage metagame, and promises deliver explosive tech. In this article, he also answers a lot of questions on a number of Vintage topics.

Nice article, Steve. I'm really looking forward to hearing about the new deck deck that Team Meandeck has thought up and your thoughts on 5 color Stax. Also, the mask deck at the beginning of the article looks (obviously without me having had time to any playtesting) to be much more insane than any other version of masknought I've seen to date.

I liked it. I thought it was much more clearly written than some of the stuff that you've done in the past, which is a very welcome change. Not to say that your previous stuff has been too stuffy or verbose, but from a literary standpoint, this one had a lot more flow to it. Nice work, and I can't wait to see what you have to unleash upon us.

Nice article Smmenen. I am glad you answered all of the questions posted in the Quiz forum. I am really looking forward to your new deck, as well as the other decks that will arise from Richmond. Any idea when the primer will be introduced?

I'm sure the three fated decks will be incredible and all, but is that MaskNought list really supposed to be a serious contender? I ran MaskNought for months and tested it long after it stopped performing. Your list is barely 10 cards different, has zero difference in strategy, and has at least 2 glaring weaknesses on top of the old issues that killed the deck in the first place. It isn't even Shattering Spree. Shattering Spree is actually bad against the deck because you can morph 2 'naughts and they can't kill them with Spree before they die.
Out of curiosity, what do you do against Chalice for 2 or Null Rod?

Those are good points. The mask deck was intended to be a serious contender in early design, but we gave up. I published it so people could have some fun.

I have a Masknought deck but like many people said there is just so much hate for it now. Especially with Pithing Needle Out. Chalice, Null Rod, Swords, Needle, Seal of Cleansing and so much more hurt the deck. I played some Lightning Greaves and it seemed to work better but I wish it could be a little more competitive simply because of the fact I have 4 Alpha Masks and the deck is fun to play. I tinkered around with so many different lists but it's very hard to overcome the hate no matter what. I was thinking about selling them to get some Bazaars possibly. What exactly did your list look like? I don't have premiumon SCG.

Nice article Steve, as always. When you post whatever new deck (I assume your deck for Richmond?) next week, are you going to go for the full-on primer, like long ago with Belcher and Long. Those were definitely my personal favorites, as it provided insight and such that is pretty much impossible to get unless you've played the deck forever or are apparently naturally insane at combo. I guess I missed the Q&A thing, I was hoping you'd share your thoughts on Brassman Gifts versus the more Meandeck style decks (Flame-Vault vs. Tendrils/Colossus).

Thanks for putting my question about Stax into the article, Steve. I loved it. Can't wait for more.
