From Shay's cell phone about 30 min ago.
Hi-Val is 2-0 (Hi-Val equally had a game loss for some random reason, but pwned shay in the only game that mattered)
Shay is 1-1 (Shay played Hi-Val and got a game loss for dropkicked Tinker on the floor)
Ray is 1-1
Ashok is 1-1 (Losing to Glacial Chasm!)
Cron is 1-1
Andy is 1-1
Buhler is an Ornithopter. (0-2 for those who have never seen one)
JD is 1-1 or 0-2 I THINK, the phone started to cut out.

Shay is playing CS as usual. Andy has Gifts. Hi-Val and Meandeck are playing "terrible meandeck ichorid.dec". Ashok is playing Sui Black. No idea on the rest.

If they're playing Ichorid I'm really curious as to how they figured how to not auto-lose to combo and Gifts.

Buehler at 0-2.  Wow.  Can't say I saw that one coming.

I'm still confident GWS will be mad comboing to a few pieces of power--especially if there's Ichorid being played Smile

MeanDredge is actually pretty savage. We had a boarding plan for all the hate and such. I heard Buehler lost even when his opponent was playing horrible, but sometimes you get unlucky.

Jim is 2-0 playing a Gifts build we've been toying around with for the past 2 months. Expect him to T8.

Alright, I just got off the phone with some teammates, and the meta is apparently a lot of Fish, combo, Oath and Control Slaver.

ICBM Guys:
-Jeremy Seroogy (The_Spooky_Kid) is 2-1 (he beats Eric Miller and JDizzle, but loses to a random scrub playing fish, lame) with his 5c Stax variant
-Soly (13Nova) is 2-0-1 with GWS I.T. (secret tech deck)
-Ben Carp (TheGunslinga) is 2-1 with ICBM Oath
-Dan Carp (AngryPhelddagrif) is 2-1 with Gilded Claw

GWS guys:
Mat Endress is 2-0 (still in his 3rd round match) with I.T.
Eric Becker is 2-0 with I.T.
Ryan Spindler (Rhyno) is 1-1 with I.T.

148 - not surprising

after talking with Jim, it seems like nobody is playing shops, and there's a boatload of randomness/combo.

13Nova 2-0-1
Iamfishman 2-1
Cron 2-1
JuggernautGO 3-0
Kowal 1-2
Matt Morrison 1-2

Kowal went 0-2, but still playing. Also he wanted the following to be posted:

The difference is, Ornithopters are free.  This 0-2 cost 32 packs of Russian 9th, right?

Glad to see IT/supersecret doing so well.  Since Eric Becker has been owning the regional meta with it, it would be good for the ego if he was able to similarly own the national meta.

49 Cent: I don't want to give anything away that isn't mine, but I don't think it is a secret at this point that IT is not terribly dissimilar from the u/b Tendrils list posted in the Open Forum recently.  I think it is considerably more refined to beat Stax, and has some other tech to it, but the idea is the same.

IT stands for Intuition Tendrils.  It is kind of a blend of Grim Long and TPS.  The resiliency of TPS, but the brokeness of Long and none of the stalling of TPS.  In fact, according to people much better at playing the deck than I am, Uba Stax is the most favorable match.  Eric would have had a primer done by now, but he had infinite tough mid terms to study for.  He will be poked with cattle prods until he finishes after this weekend Smile.

How difficult and time consuming would it be for SCG to simply upload the pairings each round?  It doesn't even have to be at the beginning of each round--some time in the middle of the round would be fine too.  Would that take up too much time?

I'm not there because of $ and I had a genetics test and I was working on a semester long project lab for Organic Chemistry.  There was pretty much no way I could go.

Hmm, you have to know how to copy paste from DCI reporter onto a HTML page. This would at least require 3 people, and only 400 would read it. So it's probably not viable.  Razz

The IT deck is absolutely savage. It is both broken and resilient. I would not be surprised if Eric and 1 other GWSer makes it to the T8. You arent there MoxLotus?

If that Intuition-Tendrils list is similar to the U/B Tendrils list in the forums, I would expect it to do well.

Not true.  JD has been known to swing with Welders and Elvish Spirit Guides, and sometimes the other guys pull out Tinker and swing with Kevin.

I'm just excited about the prospect of a quality T1 report on mtg.com from Buehler.  As long as he doesn't trash the format too much!

I think after today, he might respect the Northeast a lot more.

The deck is positively stupid, and I expect it to put 2-3 copies into each Top 8. I sure hope Eric can get up the strength to primer us soon, but I know he's got a lot of partying to do....what with midterms done and all...

I heard ICBM is out.  1 GWS member made it for sure with IT and another has to win this round to get in.  I think that Smmendian might be the only meadeck member to make it with Ichorid.

T8 will likely be:

Demars
Shay
Anand
Endress
Outlaw
Evenpence

Buehler went 6-2 and will likely be in T16.

Steve was 9th seed going into the last round, so he needs to win to T8.
