Sorry for the late notice. since the last announcement was placed late I decided to place it myself, unfortunately it took me awhile to get an account to be able to post. It is totally my fault and it will not happen again. Especially since we will be having a type 1 event at least once a month or once everyother. I will be having regular type one events but I also like to mix things up a bit so the off months will have common type 1 events that have the same style prize support.

Place: Valhalla Games
Address: 807 1/2 S. Neil, Champaign IL. 61820
Phone: 217-356-6279
Type: 1
Restrictions: Commons Only. If it has ever been printed as a common you may use it. i.e. strip mine had one version that was common.
Time: 11:00 Deck registration 12:00 tourney start
Judge: Changed Judges, Chris Manrique
Pairings: I now this was a problem last time so I fixed it. DCI reporter will be used
Rounds: DCI floor rules plus cut to top 4 or 8 depending on turn out
Prize: This also was a problem last time so I tried to fix it. Mox pearl, (en) Mana Drain, Volcanic Island, +Packs. format depends on turn out. Store will buy back everything if player wishes including packs.

I apologize that our last tourney did not please some people, Since I wish to continue to do these types of events I will try to make things better. Since we are new to this suggestions are always welcome and I do listen to them.

Thank you for your time,
Tim Adams

It's not a good idea to announce a tournament 3 days before it happens on the same day as TWO OTHER TOURNAMENTS.  I, for one, cannot come up with a entirely new common deck in 3 days, and I certainly wouldn't sacrifice playing in an event that allows me to play Vintage instead of peasant Magic.

I second what JD says. This tournament was posted WAY to late and is in a totally new format that noone on these forums will have any time to think about.

I enjoyed your last tournament, but I don't think I own 60 playable commons.

Wow, I'm not even sure if you can build High Tide in an all commons format. There's no way to actually kill your opponent.

All commons Affinity would be fine, but I'm having trouble coming up with anything else. Peasant Magic lists tend to get a LOT of use out of the 5 uncommons that format allows.

Yes I agree with you all that the listing was way to late as was our last one. I am now able to list on this forum so the next one will be posted at least a month in advance. I am currently looking at next months schedual to secure the date. It will be a standard Type 1 event. As far as the other two events on the same day, this was lack of forsight on my part, I appologize. I wish I could change the date but due to word of month advertizing I can not change the date, were locked in.

All in all I like pesent magic but the reason I went to this event was to shake up the metagame and make people think of new decks and not ones that were previously established. Most of the people that have had time to make decks for this are licking that they had to think outside the normal convinsions that they use to build decks for this. I think the most popular deck so far is mono-black running 4 sink-holes. Unfortunatly I won't be able to make the event jmyself to see how it turns out, once agian lack of forsight on my part. Appologies, I will make sure that the next one is better advertized.

Latter all.

You don't mention any other restrictions, so I assume my 48 lightning bolt/12 mountain deck will be fine?

Strip Mine has never been printed as common rarity.  People who say so have no understanding of probabilities.

It says Type 1 rules, so the 4-of limit still applies.

Still, I'm not going to waste time trying to build a deck on such short notice.
